The enthusiastic team behind a project
that is making a difference

Julie Chapon
Julie
Co-founder
The shortest team member with the biggest personality! She is in charge of content creation and communication. Before Yuka, she spent 5 years at a consulting firm, which is how she developed peerless mastery of PowerPoint. Julie loves cheese, salsa, and tidiness. She's also a zero-waste expert who is always eager to share tips with the team!
François Martin
François
Co-founder
The most festive team member, but not a morning person. He worked for 6 years at a web agency that he co-founded. Since then, he still hasn't found anything he would rather do than write lines of code! François loves web design and spends hours working on details that no one else notices. He also enjoys rock climbing and running, and has promised himself to run a marathon "someday".
Benoît Martin
Benoît
Co-founder
The oldest and by far the wisest. Benoît has 10 years of experience in purchasing, but these days, he's more interested in coding. He's in charge of developing the app for Android. He also watches over his little brother (left) and the legal and financial aspects of the company (a lot less fun). Otherwise, Benoît sleeps very little and has 3 wonderful children!
Anthony Berthou
Anthony
Registered Dietitian
Anthony Berthou is the nutritionist who works with us. He co-wrote Yuka’s book titled "The Healthy Eating Guide". A college instructor who also teaches health and sports professionals, Anthony revises and approves all our blog articles. He's also an avid athlete and a former member of the French junior triathlon team.
Zoé Kerlo
Zoé
Toxicologist
The most artistic of the team, she loves painting landscapes inspired by her travels. Her role at Yuka is to decipher different published works and studies to identify the risk level of ingredients and additives. Zoe is also a former roller derby player: she even participated in the 2017 French championships under the pseudonym « Valkyrie »!
Louise Decarsin
Louise
Legal counsel
The dreamiest of all, she likes to escape reality by reading poetry. Before joining Yuka, she worked for 6 years as a civil and commercial litigation lawyer, defending numerous players in the social economy. Being a Libra, Louise is always asking herself 1,000 different questions and tends to be the last one to decide what to order at restaurants!
Caroline Coutant
Caroline
Customer service
Our chatty Cathy, she loves to spoil the team with gourmet treats. She's also attentive to users, taking great care to consider their various suggestions. Caroline is a fan of nail art and often surprises us with her creations, which include watermelon-patterned, SpongeBob, and glow-in-the-dark nails!
Marie Toureau
Marie
Customer service
The most sensible one of the bunch, you certainly won’t catch her getting into any kind of trouble! At Yuka, she answers to the many inquiries sent in by our users as well as corresponding with brands. She loves baking with her daughters, making them piñatas and setting up treasure hunts for them!
Léna Jamin
Léna
Communication
The youngest, she loves trying out new dishes, but she has a weakness for Italian food, especially burrata. She works with Julie on all things communications and, in particular, takes care of bringing social media to life. A sunset lover in her spare time, her camera roll is full of the evening sky.
Samuel Terroitin
Samuel
Android developer
The geekiest one of us, he loves all tech gadgets and dreams about owning a drone with a virtual reality headset. He takes care of developing Yuka for Android and ensuring it is bug-free. He loves discovering atypical events and restaurants around Paris and has even developed his own mobile app to list them!
Briana Sperry
Briana
Customer service
The most bicultural of the team, Briana is American and Ecuadorian. After 7 years in hospitality, she has gained a lot of experience within the customer service department and knows how to keep her cool even with the most particular clients. She loves baking, latin music, and singing her heart out.
Valentin Seguineau
Valentin
Customer service
The most tattooed one of the bunch, he has illustrated 15 of the most important moments in his life on his skin. Joining us from the hospitality industry as well he always has a smile on his face and is a true people person as well as being highly adaptable. He is a huge Harry Styles fan and a tea lover (his favorite one answers to the sweet name of Blue Mountain).
Alice Scaffidi
Alice
Customer service
The polyglot of the bunch, she speaks 4 languages fluently and takes great pleasure in the nuances between words. Italian herself, she takes care of our Italian users' inquiries as well as translating all of Yuka’s content into Italian. She loves running, yoga and dreams of having her own vegetable garden where she can grow her own carrots!
Toupie
Toupie
Happiness Officer
The furriest of them all, she's in charge of the team's emotional well-being. Always on the lookout for a belly rub, she wastes no time looking for someone on the team ready to cuddle her. Our very own four-legged vacuum cleaner, she waits patiently under the table at lunchtime for someone to inadvertently drop a few crumbs.
The story
Benoît & Melissa

Benoît, one of the co-founders and a father of three, decided he wanted to buy better food for his family. He found it overwhelming to read all the labels for a vast array of food products and thought it would be nice if there were a tool that could automatically analyze the ingredients in each item.

He shared his idea with his brother François and a friend, Julie. Both were immediately won over by the concept. In February 2016, the three of them presented the idea during a startup competition called the "Food Hackathon". After a weekend spent hammering out their concept, the trio took home the top prize! Realizing that their idea fulfilled a real need, they jumped wholeheartedly into the project.

In the beginning, they hadn't imagined an app, but rather a magnetic, carrot-shaped smart device that would stick to the refrigerator. After a few months however, they started to grasp the limitations of such a device, including its price, which would not make the analysis of products accessible to all. They therefore decided to opt for a mobile app instead.
