      Hi Fiona,

Thank you so much for your comment 😊

Our Top 10 lists are generated automatically by our algorithm, which takes into account both the product rating and its availability in the database. That’s why some great local brands may not always appear if they’re less widely scanned or distributed. Rest assured, this does not mean that your products are not great products, as well!

Yuka has been a game changer for me. I no longer buy a product without quickly scanning the barcode and have been shocked at how many of those I previously trusted include additives proven or suspected of being harmful. Yuka provides safe/healthier alternatives that not only gives me options but proves manufacturers have choices.

I’m of an age where these “bad/poor” rated products probably won’t actually harm me but if enough consumers stop buying them it will be in their financial interest to change formulations.

I’ve chosen to subscribe not only for the extra benefits but because I love the backstory, the independence, the science behind the content and the results so much $20- 30 a year is my way of saying a huge thank you.

We’re so glad to hear that Yuka has had such a positive impact on your habits and that you find value in the transparency it brings. Your perspective on how consumer choices can influence manufacturers is exactly what drives our mission!

And a big thank you as well for your support through the subscription, it helps us stay independent and continue improving the app 💚

Great thanks. I did wonder just what Yuka was testing, particularly in facial serums. Is it how natural a product is and less chemicals?

    Reply
    1. Ileana from Yuka

      Hi Pauline,

      Great question 😊

Yuka doesn’t test products in a lab. Instead, we analyze the ingredient list provided on the label and assign a risk level to each ingredient based on scientific studies and health authority assessments.

All the sources we use are listed directly in the app, so you can review them if you’d like. Our goal is to help you better understand what’s in a product, not to test its effectiveness or how natural it is.

I hope this helps clarify our method! To learn more, you can click here.

When I look at every product rated excellent with 90/100, in the app it has just one negative – “a bit too caloric” – so you’ve just filled people’s inboxes with a recipe to consume too many calories at breakfast??? How is that helpful? Seems like an important piece of information to leave out there.

My husband stopped getting diverticulitis when he quit eating red meat (apart from very small amounts of pork a couple of times a week), and increasing hydration and fibre was also significant. Also try making your own muesli mix, dry or toasted with all the good things you can eat. All the best

Your ap has been an incredible help to me and I use it all the time and have changed many brands of food items and body lotions etc. thanks to the site. It is quite astonishing to know that here are so many chemicals in every day foods and body products. (I often wonder if this could be part of the cause of so many children nowadays having allergies and/or autism. I am 77 years old, never had anything processed while growing up on a farm. Milk unpasteurized, home grown vegetables, unadulterated meat. Rarely did we have processed food. A treat was fish and chips on a Friday night, Kellogg’s cornflakes when on holiday!! I have no allergies and no mental disorders that I know of. This goes for so many of my relatives and friends who are of similar age.)

For years myself n husband been eating Unclr Toby,s PLUS have gone true but most of the time I bought the one with Apple coz we had to watch our teeth with the one with nuts.
We didn,t find it sweet at all. We do not put sugar or honey on top , only banana or frozen barries. Love it. My husband unfortunately is tube fed now he can not enjoy them anymore.
I had few boxes in my spare cabinet, bought them when on special. Just for myself now they wore to many.I discovered our youngest son n his wife like them so I passed on to them. I left one for me. Now I am looking at all 10 cereals being rated i m happy we have been eating good once.we kept sugar away from our body.although I love chocolate but indulge with dark 70% one.in future I will try the one gluten free as I m getting older I get blotted tummy maybe gluten will be better for me. Thanks for the great ideas. I’ve actually started making my own muesli because of the sugar content in commercial brands.
At least now I know of good choices at the supermarket.

Aldi’s Hillcrest Muesli Clusters is missing from this list. One of the cheapest options and a rating of 84 https://app.yuka.io/6P6AjDH
