Aquaphor lip balm is excellent but aquaphor ointment comes out poor on the app? 🤔
I find this with several products. A certain brand body wash may be excellent but their lotion may be poor. Or suave hand soap Milk and Honey is highly rated but their other fragrances are not. Just scan away and you may need to mix and match.

I really need a balm with some sun protection for outdoor activities on the sun and snow. Do any of your top pics provide any protection!
I started using YUKA last summer and I’ve been using face creams, masks and tonics that are only the best rated and at 74 years old, I feel my skin is looking so much better. I’m moisturizing two to three times a day and I’m now receiving comments about how beautiful my skin looks! Many of the products I had been using for years rated very low and I threw them all out. Everything I use on my face has to be Yuka approved now and I’m finding many products at very affordable prices. Thank you for this wonderful app.

When I used your app to scan Ecos last winter, it was not rated as excellent. I was shocked because I had used it for years. Due to this I switched to Bert’s Bees. Do you know if Ecoschanged their formulary in some way since last winter?

The best lip treatment I have ever found and use is from Beekman 1802. Been using it for over 5 years and my lips have never had any issues. Always moist and never crack. Won’t ever use anything else!

What is a good mineral sunscreen cream for face?
I use the biossance in the teal tube. I found it through scanning my (awful) suncreen with the Yuka app and reading their alternative options!
I’d like to add Healthy Traditions Lip Balm for future comparison and will look closer at your lineup to see if Burt’s Bee lip balm wasn’t included?

I love the Yuka app! Used it for products in Australia too such a great way to eat healthier. Loved learning about the lip balm too.
Milk & honey one is full of sunflower seed oil. The rest of ingredients are good though. Maybe give it an 80 or possibly 90 but definitely not 100 when it has seed oils in it & the other ones who got 100 do not.

Nice to see Yuka expanding it’s recommendations beyond food.
They have a natural spf. For me in tropics with a far lower lip they work good whereas the ones with spf dry out my lip & it ends up burned
Are there any lip balms that have sunscreen in them that are safe?
I also love lip balms 5-9 i definitely want to try.. I have the blue Nivea one and it works, I always have had trouble finding a GOOD chapstick ..

What’s the logic in ranking all of these if they all have a 100 score? Personally, I am very hesitant when it comes to flavors and especially fragrances. For example the Mario Badescu lip has Fragrance and Glyceryl Rosinate in its ingredients, why is it rated so highly? I don’t feel like searching the ingredient labels for all of these but I know for sure Dr Bronners should be ranked #1 as is the only lip from this list that passes the EWG certification and has very minimal ingredients. I personally use Aquaphor, yet I’m trying to look for something even cleaner and with less ingredients. I will probably be switching to Dr Bronner or something else EWG certified.
A little coconut oil works great also.

Aquafor solid is also a nice lip balm. It goes on silky smooth with such a smooth texture you don’t even know you have it on.
First of all, thank you for all the wonderful information you provide. As for lip balms, I use, “Badger” with coconut butter.
I purchased “Aquaphor” recently and it had created a dreadful bitter taste in my mouth. I had to throw it away after only one use.
that’s odd aquifer never tasted bad on my lips but I know what you mean when one tastes bad! The solid aquafor is really nice give that a try.

My Favorite Night Balm by Bigelow is the best balm I have ever used. It was recommended by my dentist, and I am forever grateful! PS I have allergies that preclude my using most lip balms.
Blistex Lip Infusions-Hydrate is one of the best I’ve found as well. I have had burning mouth syndrome for 15 months now and it affects the lips as well. It’s like having strep throat on your tongue and lips. This product makes it more bearable. Worth a try.

My point exactly! I always cross reference using the EWG cite and just read the list of ingredients. I like Yuka for beginners but the scores haven’t been very accurate (sometimes) in my experience. Like why do all of these have a score of 100 but some contain fragrance, a known hormone disruptor:/
