Pretty sure that the ‘ALDI’ brand yogurt is just as good as the ten listed. I love the ‘ALDI’ price…….

I love Greek yogurt. Unfortunately, had to go gluten free over a yr ago b/c it was causing more inflammatory pain; have arthritis. Dairy free yogurt that I found, has no calcium in them, which I really need; and has chemicals in it. Yuka has been such an eye opener. Thank you!

Thanks but you missed the best one. Straus Greek yogurt is made here in Northern CA and is truly outstanding. I hope you will look into and include in the future. Organic, grass fed cows, nothing but milk and cultures. The taste and texture is so superb eating it plain is a joy. It is also an excellent base for savory yogurt dishes such as Tzatziki. Yum!

So happy to see Maple Hill on the list! It’s been my go-to for months now. I love that it’s whole milk from grass-fed cows. Certified organic is important to me, too. I saw a comment about organic being the “scam of the century” and that’s true to an extent…a lot of brands label their products “organic” but aren’t certified organic. Certification is key! I’ve never been a big fan of the taste of any plain Greek yogurt by itself, but Maple Hill is delicious with some pineapple and strawberries mixed in. Everyone has their preferences, and I appreciate that you’re putting this information out there! I’d personally love to see more details about certifications. Items can be rated really high but not be certified organic or non-GMO (grits, for example), so I would like to see a certification mention. I’d also love to see triggers for pregnancy-safe ingredients! Thank you for everything y’all do to help people make heather choices.

Thanks for the info! I usually buy the Chobani one. I’m lactose intolerant, so I can’t eat regular yogurt. I have to buy “Greek” yogurts since Greek is processed differently from regular yogurt. The process of making Greek verses regular is the straining process. It pretty much takes out most or all of the lactose. Just a tip for other people out there who are lactose also.

Thanks for the list. I’ll see I can find the other yogurts and whether they are affordable.

FAGE greek yogurt, 2% lactose free best self is HANDS DOWN the most amazing textured and taste in any greek yogurt we have had. It’s like a dream parfait. No tangy taste at all which we all hate. We heat up some frozen blueberries and strawberries for about 2 minutes in microwave to get them saucy and put them over the yogurt adding in some chopped walnuts or pecans drizzled with pure date syrup and it’s out of this world. We put a large scoop on our cooked oatmeal with bananas and top with date syrup or some maple syrup. My kids came down recently going on and on about their Chobani greek yogurts until I brought out the Fage and told them to compare, …and their were blown away. They have now stocked their fridge with the Fage. I am lactose intolerant and am so happy they make a lactose greek one.

No mention of flavored yogurt. Don’t care for unflavored , any healthy ones in flavor?

    Reply
    1. Mary Ellen

I add fresh or frozen fruits and nuts and sometimes a bit of maple syrup or raw honey. After eating it that way, the flavored ones taste too sweet and often artificial.

Why do you keep recommending non-fat/reduced-fat products over natural ones? Natural fats are good for you. Please stop spreading the falsehood that artificially removing natural fat is optimal.

They are not recommending only non-fat. Enlarge the products above and you will see that many, if not most, are whole milk organic.

Dr. Steven R. Gundry said, you need prebiotic and probiotics together, one doesn’t work with out the other for a real healthy gut balance. Is that a true statement ?

No. You do not need a prebiotic for a probiotic to work , but if you take a prebiotic it will make your probiotic more effective. This is just what I read.

What about those of us who are lactose intolerant? You’re doing us a disservice by not including them in your ratings. Or, at the very least, provide an option to see a separate ranking.

I know Fage has lactose free and Julie didn’t mention that the 5 grams of fat in the regular yogurt must be from lactose. There is no sugar added in that brand.

Please look at how the yogurt earns its rating. Maple Hill gets 100/100 yet ranks number three, most likely due to its availability and the same goes for Trader Joe’s brand. I have to bypass four local grocers, five if including Costco, before I can find Maple Hill.

It is very clear the fact that Kirkland brand is on top shows that they’re being paid by the company to put it on top this is very sad I used to have so much faith in Yuka. Why isn’t Maple Hill on top? Clearly Maple Hill brand is the best choice here.

Curious why you say that. It says Kirkland is non-sponsored. The both are 100%. Is maple hill preferred because it is grass fed? I could see that. My favorite is Strauss but it is probably just local to CA. If what you say is true, Yuka is not nearly as good as I thought. I hope they address your question.

Probably cost. I can get 48oz of Kirkland for $7-8. The others are almost that much for 32oz.

YUKA states clearly that NO brand pays them for ratings. It is really quite insulting to make such an unfounded statement, particularly considering all of the incredible data they provide us. Their Help section states that an impartial algorithm is used to rank products based on several criteria. I’m quite sure that price and availability are among those. I personally love Maple Hill but it is expensive and not available to everyone. If it has a 100/100, it is clearly highly recommended. Not all products can be listed first.
