Have you considered checking out Senegence lip balm ? All of their products go by EU standards and are considered clean beauty. Who can go wrong with Shea butter, vitamin E and seaweed extract! It’s my go to!

I have used Aquaphor when I had a bad burn on my lips from sun.
It is amazing, non irritating, calming the best I’ve ever found and doctor recommended. If you’re sensitive to certain lipsticks or lip balms you can apply this first and then the other. I love it!

I’m really surprised and disappointed that aquaphor made this list when it’s petrol based…nothing like oil refinery byproducts to get your lips through the winter.
Indeed. Something thick like that is more of a barrier product too, rather than a moisturizer. Don’t get me wrong, I have used products with petroleum when I have had severe skin inflammations that I couldn’t address with more natural products or even find natural products to use.
I am surprised and disappointed that burts bees wax did not make the list. Ive been using this product for years believing it was good
I am a huge fan of Burt’s bees! Although they don’t get 100 they still will get a pretty good score.
Burt’s Bees ingredients have not done well on EWG for years. Burt’s has a marketing champagne & name.
Another article on lip balms (NYTimes?) said that Burt’s Bees contains ingredients that are not helpful to your lips, and may cause a cycle of frequent applications. I used the peppermint for years, and it did seem that I had to apply it quite often.

What about the Aquaphor Alie Vera stick?
While I generally live evanhealy, ALL these recs are in plastic! There are so many good lip balm options that come in cardboard. Why encourage more plastic in the world when we have a choice? Poppy and Pout Island coconut is my favorite these days. No spf-need to spread a layer of zinc underneath if going in sun.
I use moisturizing lip Balm – Aquaphor. I’ve used it for a while and it does exactly what it claims. I don’t know about the others, but they all got a good rating, but this one is great and works for me. Thank you Yuka!

Unfortunately if you have a citric acid allergy most of these lip balms have that ingredient in it.
Aquaphor does not. And it’s pretty cheap. I get the small sizes free from my dermatologist sometimes.

I’ve been using Burt’s Bees, but no good for my lips. Think I may try Aquaphor. I like things for my face/body as natural as I can get them. This one sounds good.
I used Burt’s Bees on my lips a couple of years ago and absolutely had a terrible reaction to it. Will never try again. Not sure what caused it. I use Hurraw balms – I love them.
There is no way Aquaphor made the list for being “healthy” or non-toxic!!
Surprised not to see one lip balm with tallow! I have tried many lip balms & the one with tallow works best for me.
I only have seen and used the Aquaphor Moisturizing Lip Balm (although it’s in a squeeze tube, more of like a jelly texture) , but whatever…and I’m glad it ranked 100/100. It truly is EXCELLENT!!
I was surprised not to see O’Keeffe’s lip repair. I’ve tried a lot of lip balms, some on your list and I found O’Keeffe’s lip repair (unscented) to work the best for me. It is expensive though.

Osmia lip doctor is 100/100 on the APP. Love this product! I had oral perioral dermatitis and this was the only product that did not hurt my lips.
I love Mongo Kiss! The vanilla honey scent is just delicious. Occasionally it’s a little grainy but that’s unmelted shea butter.
I don’t see any authentic and scientific reasons for only of these few lip balms while there are a lot good brands available. This site looks like a promotional platform for paid items and it makes profit for it and nothing else.
If you go on their app they show the ingredients and which ones would make a product get a high or low score. The app has a free version I used for awhile but upgraded to the paid version. It’s a European app

Vaseline products are of petroleum and honestly I wouldn’t touch let alone use on my lips or anywhere on my body.
Vaseline is 100 percent USP pharmaceutical-grade petrolatum.
That means:
-Highly refined
-PAH-free
-Non-reactive
-Non-penetrating
-Non-sensitizing
It is used medically on:
-newborns
-burn wounds
-surgical incisions
-eczema and compromised skin
If it were unsafe for lips or skin, it would not survive in clinical use.
Time to update your knowledge
Aquaphor has never improved or protected my dry lips though recommended by a doctor. I will try others, fingers crossed.😉 Thanks for the info.

Isn’t Aquaphor made out of petroleum and mineral oil? I’m wondering how that is a 10 out of 10. I stopped using it for that exact reason.
I thought the same thing when I saw Aquaphor in the photo. Now I question the other lip balms.
The lip one is actually made without petroleum I believe. Which just proves the point that they know it’s bad to digest (and in that case it would be bad to absorb it into your skin at all but they get away with that).
I, too thought Aquaphor used petroleum.
It’s safe. Cosmetic and pharmaceutical-grade petrolatum and mineral oil are highly refined, inert, and not absorbed by the body, even with the tiny amounts you might ingest from lip products. Avoiding them is a personal preference, not a safety requirement.

I wear lip balm only when my lips are dry…because I’ve noticed that many of my friends seem to be balm addicts, constantly re-applying (I don’t think they even know they’re doing it, at this point). Because I don’t “over-pamper,” my lips are almost never dry (granted, I live in Miami…but still).

I can’t speak with scientific knowledge, but my best friend uses copious amounts of Carmex and never uses anything else. She uses it several times an hour. Kind of weird, IMO, but she has done this for years, so maybe there is something to that.
If she uses it several times per hour, perhaps it isn’t working very well and her lips are constantly drying out. Is this the intent, to get them to use it up quickly to buy more?
