TOP 10 Lip Balms 🇺🇲

Winter has officially settled in—and your lips feel it first.

Cold temperatures and dry air can quickly leave them tight, flaky, and uncomfortable. A good lip balm doesn’t just add shine: it helps repair, protect, and maintain hydration all winter long.

But ingredient quality really matters, especially for lip products. Some balms still rely on mineral oils, problematic preservatives, or controversial dyes. And because lip balm is applied so often, it’s worth remembering that you may be ingesting more of it than you think.

To make things easier, we’ve rounded up lip balms rated 100/100 on Yuka, so you can keep your lips soft and your routine worry-free.

I need an SPF in my lip balm. If I’m in the sun for just a couple minutes without an SPF I will get a cold sore.

The best I have found is from Bend Soap Company and it is very modestly priced at $3.10. Their buttery, shine-free lip butters soften rough, dry lips, keeping them in excellent condition and fully protected in any type of weather. They are made with 100% natural ingredients and a rich blend of hydrating oils, butters, and beeswax, and are a non-petroleum lip balm. My favorites are the Almond Delight and the Eucalyptus Spearmint.

Thank you for this list! Since I started checking everything with the Yuka App I found that my lip balm (Blistex in the blue little jar) was I think a ZERO! I was mortified because I applied it five times a day or more for YEARS! I just like that menthol feeling on my lips and I haven’t found anything similar yet. I hope I haven’t done any irreversible damage, but I guess we’ll see.

My favorite is not on your list. Lather has the best lip balm I have ever used. You can order it online or if you’re are near any of their locations you can pick it up there. It runs about $11.00 but so worth it.

The EOS lip balm is excellent but a smart shopper will not be paying $9.25/tube. Costco stocks a 9 pack for $19.99 and they occasionally put it on sale/rebate for something like $6.00 off.

Olive oil is better than coconut oil. Why isn’t Olive Lip Co. on your list?

What goes on the lips goes into the body. Too much saturated fat in coconut oil. The Cleveland Clinic : The American Heart Association (AHA) advises against the use of coconut oil. It’s a position backed by research from more than 100 different scientific studies, too.

    Thank you.

A safe lipstick is very hard to find because most companies use titanium dioxide, which is a potential carcinogen if ingested. You can go to PrettyOrganicGirl.com for a list of makeup companies that don’t use titanium dioxide. I am currently using Piper Blue lip butter, and I am happy with it.

I don’t know why Dr. Bronner’s is listed as $9+ – it’s $2.90 on Amazon right now and most vitamin websites sell it for $3 and change. It’s a great price…I apply it several times per day and a tube lasts at least a couple of months, maybe more.

Every dermatologist I’ve ever had – as recently as a few months ago – has recommended petroleum products for my chapped lips. Surprises me too but it works. I still buy the good stuff for day-wear but at night its usually something with petroleum.

Every lip balm noted is packaged in plastic. I just read research that plastic is involved in rise of nonfatty liver disease. NFLD is not directly related to diet. It is not liver disease related to alcohol. Causes a number of serious medical issues. Are there any products not packaged in plastic. Thank you
