TOP 10 Lip Balms 🇺🇲

Winter has officially settled in—and your lips feel it first.

Cold temperatures and dry air can quickly leave them tight, flaky, and uncomfortable. A good lip balm doesn’t just add shine: it helps repair, protect, and maintain hydration all winter long.

But ingredient quality really matters, especially for lip products. Some balms still rely on mineral oils, problematic preservatives, or controversial dyes. And because lip balm is applied so often, it’s worth remembering that you may be ingesting more of it than you think.

To make things easier, we’ve rounded up lip balms rated 100/100 on Yuka, so you can keep your lips soft and your routine worry-free.

Are you kidding me? Aquaphor is on your top 10? I would never use that on my body, let alone my lips. It is glorified petrolatum and mineral oil. I’m going to stop using your app and read the labels myself.

I do love the Aquaphor lip balm. However, my all-time very favorite, is the lip balm by Dr. Barbara Sturm. I have used the product for several years now. it has been the best product for my lips, especially during extremely cold dry weather, after swimming and during other outside sports. The lip balm is amazing, especially after. having surgical procedures where I’m dehydrated from anesthesia. it’s rich consistency yet lightness is amazing.Have you rated her products?

In my haste, and since I no longer live in NYC and buy so many things online – I had the name of the store/company that makes the lip balm that I have relied on for several years – incorrect. The company is Fresh, and I was curious to know if you have rated “Sugar”, their lip balm, what your comments might be, aside from price. Thank You

I’m very surprised to see that you recommend lip balm with “hemp” or “hemp seed” or “hemp seed oil” in it.

Those ingredients are detrimental to MY health, because those ingredients mixed with some medications I take can lead to an emergency room visit. I find that shocking.

At the very least you should put a warning on those ChapSticks with a warning label.

I’m kinda annoyed that Chicken Poop didn’t make the list. They’re a small company, and make a damn good product here in the states and the ingredients are 100% safe. The name is hillarious, the product is better than several listed in my opinion. It’s also a woman owned company, which doesn’t matter to me, but does matter to some folks. And Whole Foods doesn’t need any help, they’re doing quite alright.

Love this YUKA app, it’s been so helpful finding healthier food. I also need spf in my lip balm and hope the next list compares lip balm with it in.

I have been using Organic Sierra bees lip balm for years. They have many flavors. My bottom lip was cut in a V Shape to the gum, and took many stitches’. The doc told me NOT TO GO OUT IN THE SUN WITHOUT CHAPSTICK . I live in Arizona. Please rate them.

Necessaire has the most wonderful lip balm. Mild peppermint scent and amazing cooling metal tip. $28 and worth it!

Great. I’ve been using Kobee’s lip balm. Four natural ingredients. Plus no plastic container. $5.

Sadly, the average person would not be able to afford luxurious lip balms. I really have to wonder sometimes about the percentage of mark-up on such products.

I really like your app. But, most of your recommended items are not widely available outside metropolitan areas. We have large grocers and drug stores, but more common named items are available. Aquaphor is.
Of recommendations for food items I’m lucky to find 1 or two available in our area. I shop in several cities in our area whuch have large grocers and Walmart, of course.
We live in middle America far from the two coasts
Thank you for your helpful app.

Even though it has grown increasingly expensive, Dr Bronners Peppermint Lip Balm is my go to. Organic speller expressed coconut oil works wonderfully but I have to apply more often, and I use Alba Un Petroleum jelly too, it goes a long way

I’d like to know if any of these or other products have a high SPF? I golf a lot and my primary reason for lip balm is to shield my lips from the sun.

Vaseline is just as good for almost everything–lips, heels, bee stings, mosquito bites, chafing. Inexpensive and comes in various sizes (for travel my go-to in one product). Glaring omissions for Burt’s Bees and SPF factor for summer sun and winter snow reflection. Lip balm does not need “shine”. That’s a vanity issue. And the already-mentioned “no alcohol” for skin/lips and mouthwash. Dries it out more. Ointments (vs. cream vs. lotion) is the way to go for most “dry” body part issues.

My doctors have told me that Vaseline is the best. Anything with wax and alcohol is not good for your lips.

That is wonderful, however very few people can afford $4.52 to $14.77 for one stick of lip balm! I wish reviewers would check out cheaper lip balms etc. that most people buy. Obviously the best will cost an arm and a leg.
