I also prefer 10% fat Greek yogurt as I really dislike the texture of all the 0% I have tried and find them unpalatable. We have recently started mixing 10% Greek yogurt with Kefir yogurt and like the combination. Should we be avoiding 10% all together and is there a 0% with a 10% texture? Thanks

Thank you – I buy full fat Sainsbury’s Greek yogurt every week. But thank you for researching fat free Greek yogurts. Major health concern is additives in all milk products, in particular, “ Bovaer supplement trials by Arla and others! I never buy fat free or sugar free and prefer food and drinks in the most natural state possible. I’m convinced that the rise in cancer rates and other disabilities is directly linked to bioaccumulation of additives in food and drink, as well as beauty, hygiene and clothes! Yuka app is a life saver, which I use to navigate as many product, as you cover. The most expensive products, in all categorises appear to include the most high risk ingredients. Thank you again. 🙏

Why fat free? Some fat free Greek yogurt is higher in protein but as others have said, good health does not demand fat free and there is ample evidence to support full fat. I agree also re ‘Greek style’. My go-to Greek yogurt is Tim’s Dairy (the full fat version) which is exceptional, and I will certainly not be changing it in the light of this review. I am (again) disappointed in Yuka. This review seems pointless and misleading.

We buy the M&S yoghurt ( the 10% fat version) which is excellent and has a nice texture. We find that with 0% fat it leaves the yoghurt tasting washed out. We have also tried Yeo Valley which is also generally excellent but found the constituency unreliable with some separation leaving an odd taste.

      Hi Sharon,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. The selection you’re seeing is “top Greek yogurts”, which means it highlights the products with the best overall scores in that category. Because the score takes nutritional factors like saturated fat into account, fat-free versions often receive higher scores, so they appear more frequently in that list.

This doesn’t mean well-rated, full-fat yogurts don’t exist in the app, only that they may receive slightly lower scores and therefore don’t appear in that specific “top products” selection.

Of course, Yuka is simply a label decoder that presents information about products. The goal is to help users compare options, but everyone is free to choose what best fits their own preferences and dietary approach.

I’m shocked that you are recommending fat-free and Greek ‘style’. Any food that has the fat removed means extra processing. Also Greek ‘style’ is not the same, and typically has around half the natural protein. This is my first look at Yuka and I am not at all impressed.

You have only rated fat free Greek yoghurts, but full fat natural Greek yoghurt has even more nutrients and potentially more micro organisms and is less processed. So overall, should be more nutritious, definitely tastes better, and in moderation the fat isn’t an issue in a balanced healthy diet, in fact it’s a good thing.

Fat free means they’ve messed around with them which is less good for your body. Are you going to do a ranking of the best full fat yogurts too? Second attempt with less spelling mistakes: If the scores are the same for 9 of the 10 items, why have the rating been selected?

According to ZOE [the famous website informing us how to eat well] to be healthy it is wrong to have fat free produce, or even semi-skimmed __ all dairy produce should be full fat.

Full fat yoghurt is a more natural product, in my view, and has many more uses in cooking. You couldn’t make labneh with fat free yoghurt for example. Full fat tastes luxurious and, as long as you don’t eat huge amounts, isn’t fattening. Low fat diets aren’t for everyone either.

Unfortunately fat free is not the best. It’s had the food matrix altered and diary products such as yoghurt and cheese are fine if they have saturated fat as they are fermented. Whole fat organic milk is also best. Whole fat is also better as it neutralises any sugar spike from the natural sugars in yoghurt, ie lactose. Nature knows best. Scientists should leave the food intact! All this information is well researched and freely available from nutritionists and experts where the research is provided on eg Zoe podcasts, Doctor’s Kitchen podcasts in fact many places even newspapers etc. It has been widely known for a long time. It’s not a fringe concept! It’s one of the annoying features of the otherwise mostly excellent Yuka app when you scan anything like full fat Greek yoghurt!
Also as others have mentioned, organic is best so you’ re not getting hormones and antibiotics from the milk. Be great if this information could be updated!

I buy organic whole milk and make my own. It’s so easy, I use a couple of tablespoons of live yogurt as a starter. Just bring the milk to almost boiling point, I usually aim for 75°C, then allow to cool to 40-45°C, mix in your starter then leave in a warm place for 6-8 hours (I use the proving functionon my oven at 40°C). I then strain mine to make Greek yogurt.
