As a professional hairdresser, I would like to see how you rate professional products to help hairdressers choose what to sell in salon
As someone who wants to avoid single use plastics, I am pleased you included Eco Warrior in your list. I use Kinkind and woukd love to know what you think of their products.
Thanks for this info 😊 very useful 👍
Thank you very much. I will find the shampoo information very useful.
Thank you very much. This website is so helpful when I go shopping. I check everything so thank you very much guys. Thank you
Very useful information – labels are very misleading so great to have you tell us what is good
Yes, Australian is the best!!!
I’m currently using Minimal & was hoping it would be on the list
Great to see these good shampoos
Thank you for this.
I just tried to buy the Faith in Nature Rosemary Balancing Shampoo on the Faith in Nature website, and they only don’t even stock it, which seems very odd !!
Thanks
Thank you. Very useful. Love your App. Use it all the time .
Love this app. Please can we have more of these emails
Can you test nature spell shampoos
I’d love you to run a test on only shampoo bars and conditioner bars, as I avoid any product in plastic where possible.
Would be good to show the date of posts as some products are no longer available
What about kin Kind shampoo and conditioners
Very helpfulthank you
What about UNI
100/100
I am very grateful to you, since I have been using Yuka, I have a much healthier life and I am more satisfied. My expenses are under control. And my diseases are improving.
What shampoo best for coloured hair please?
TRESemme for coloured hair is brilliant! No nasties. Unfortunately the conditioner isn’t as ‘clean & safe’ .
I think some of these test in animals !
Good point, I always want cruelty free as well
They all, except one, come in plastic bottles. Shame.
I don’t think so, they got to many chimicals
Always use head and shoulders Bare, it leave my coloured hair silky smooth. Wouldn’t have found it if it wasn’t recommended by Yuka 🙏
I don’t buy anything unless it’s passed the Yuka standard, absolutely brilliant
thank you brilliant again!
Excellent information! I used your app and discovered Faith in Nature was pretty organic. I bought it from Holland & Barrett. I’ve been using it a while now. I have long uncoloured hair and this shampoo works great. My hair always looks healthier these days. I since seen this range sold in Sainsburys. Thanks Yuka Team.
It is wonderful to have this app thank you yuka
Thank you this is helpful
Nirvana,Nettle & Jasmine Shampoo, l’ve been using for years, can you check it out for me please.
I got 2 different scan results from the same shampoo (the Biotin & Collagen shampoo) large bottle scanned as excellent and small bottle scanned as bad?
Thank you very much. I have never seen any of these in normal shops. Where can we get them please?
Holland and Barrett
Very helpful but could you state in which shops they are stocked. Thank you.
Thank you so much.I like this app😊
Thankyou really useful to know
Are FFor Shampoos also good??
Oh thank you 👍🏻
Just love this site, so informative
and have changed nearly all my skin care, hair care etc to ones that are best for me.
Thank you to all at Yuka
Thanks but what about all the plastic? Surely packaging should be considered as well
I love this app it makes me more conscious in what I buy
Shampoo for fine thinning hair. It’s called Husk with argon oil. I hope this helps.
Have been looking for shampoos that do not contain silicone and preservatives etc, thank you so much for this information
Brilliant and helpful as always, thank you
Thank you for all your hard work.
I’m now using and recommended by yuka: Husk for damaged dry hair.
On my shopping day, I open the yuka app, and if the product shows good or excellent only then I put it in my trolley.
Yuka app is a game changer.
I have thinniing hair ~ or very fine. Are any of these shampoos the best for fine hair. Thank you
thank you once started to use Yuka app i shared it to others your helps is priceless i changed all products even expensive one due weren’t as good as they preach.. using it to check food and products
Thank you so much
Thanks you great help
What shampoos and conditioners would you suggest for thinning hair due to menopause
Great list, but why not add Yarden Dead Sea shampoo from Malki (from Amazon or their own web site, and occasionally from Boots). Contains NO detergents or anything artificial and scores 100/100!
Always look forward to these surveys. Started with Moogoo surveyed with you and had an 86
Much appreciated these subjects, important these days. Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Is it possible to have the best shampoo etc for hair loss or hair shedding. I have just ordered online a shampoo that should help with this made from seaweed. It’s not cheap to buy but getting desperate now as my once lovely think hair is very thin. You can see my scalp. Trying my very best to hide it.
Thank you in advance x
Excellent advice I always use the Yuka app when selecting cosmetics etc .
Sorry about your hair loss. I see a kinesiologist and found I needed a liquid iron supplement to support my hair shedding cycle. Different people may need different things to support their body.
Thank you so, much . I trust only Yuka’s rating .
Love the moogoo range. Glad it’s on the list
Its good you are doing this, all these are available online. Well doneYuka my favourite app!!
I am on my second degree on nutrition and then doing a doctorate all lined up .
Thank you so much, very useful. Can you recommend a conditioner ?
Try Moogoo hair conditioner. Its really good. I’m in love with all Moogoo products.
Amazing! Thanks
Would you do a bath shampoo please
Thank you
Fred & Flow ( Tesco kids) head to toe wash is fab with no nasties. Whole family use it 😊.
Love this info. Thank you
Do you cover salon shampoos and conditioners
Thank you! Would you please do a (UK) top ten for hair conditioners?
Hi Trina,
Thanks for your suggestion! We’ll look into this 🥕
This would be great, also if there are any heat protection products for before using a hairdryer or straighteneres would be fab. thanks x
Such great appreciated information
Far to many products out there so good to know the best qualities to purchase thank – you
Thanks for this info., these snippets are always so helpful, thank you! 😊
So pleased to have found the Yuka app to subscribe to, I have used it many times!
I was interested in Nizaral shampoo, when i checked it out it said not use more than 3 days , then every 2 weeks and classed as a medicine, I’m in the Uk , that was Boots pharmacy
Very disappointing you didn’t include more solid shampoo bars. Specifically Friendly Soap which has no nasties like parabens and palm oil or plastic packaging, and is an excellent product. All of these products, bar one, are in plastic bottles and several contain palm oil – terrible for the planet, and many are not cruelty free.
Did you check if the collagen was from an animal or plant based source? Animal collagen can include extractions from bovine spinal cord, bones and skin
Hi Alison!
Shampoo bars are great products, and many score very well in Yuka. If they do not appear in the Top 10, it is only because our algorithm selects products that are both very highly rated and widely scanned, so the list remains impartial and useful for most users. It does not mean your products are any less excellent.
For now, Yuka does not evaluate packaging, which is why plastic-free options are not highlighted. If you prefer cruelty-free items, we recommend looking for the official labels on the product. We will consider these aspects for future updates.
Thank you again for your suggestions, they help us improve 💚
Just wondering why Simple shampoo is not amongst the top ten.
Because its not rated as good it may have been at some point but ingredients can change so it’s best to check regularly when you buy .
Do you have any information on kitsch shampoo and conditioning bars. Thankyou
Thank you for all you do for us all …!!
OGX use questionable ingredients in some of their products. Do a little research. My hair fell out using some of said products. Many others had similar issues. Out of principle l wouldn’t buy from their range. Yuka l hope you have them on you red list!
Yes, i was surprised to see it on the list as well. I started questioning if these brands paid to be in there
Hi Begum, I want to reassure you that Yuka is completely independent! We do not accept money, partnerships, or any form of compensation from brands. No company can pay to appear in a ranking, influence a score, or be featured anywhere in the app. This independence allows us to rate products objectively, based solely on their composition 🥕
Hi Elizabeth, I am very sorry to hear about your experience ❤️🩹
Just to clarify, Yuka evaluates only the ingredients printed on the label, not the real-world effects users may experience. Reports like hair loss cannot be measured through a label, so they are not part of our rating.
If a specific OGX product contains risky ingredients, you will see them marked in orange or red. If you want, you can send me a screenshot and I will check it for you! You can email us at team@yuka.io.
We’re can these be purchased
does anyone know where to buy any of these shampoos, are they only online or do any shops sell them?
thanks
Holland and Barrett -faith in nature
So helpful. Suffering from Graves Disease i really need to keep chemical free as much as poss. Thank you 🌸
Thank u. I
Need to get a more natural shampoo as my scalp gets itchy. Will try one of these
I have a chronic itchy scalp. Have tried several products , eh TGel, Head and Shoulders Faith in Nature (I can get the bottles refilled) and my latest trial is Moogoo shampoo and conditioner but am still suffering. So far not so good. It does come in large bottles so has recycling credentials.
A splash of cider vinegar in your final rinse might be of help. Leaves hair shiny and smell vanishes!
Love the app and tell family and friends about how good it is.
I use organic shop shining shampoo for coloured hair. Really kind to my hair and scalp.
Fantastic but anything for dyed hair and over 60 please
TRESemme for coloured hair. No nasties
Great advise, I have recently been researching shampoos and cannot believe how disgusting some of the additives added are specially phenoxyethanol that is horrific, the fact apart from many other issues this can cause blindness its industrial uses are many and its in beauty products, i sent back to Amazon full refund once noticed the products contents not even wanting it returned. Thanks for the listing, I to am discussing Yuka even my Diabetic nurse has downloaded it when i showed her it. I could type reams regarding also Vegan etc named products mislead everyone it still contains deadly phenoxyethanol. The. Additives shown on yuka need to be read as well once scanned and is a such a massive benefit. I am still securing for a shampoo for grey hair re the dulling effect even one with a delicate blur flower and price eye watering it boasts organic vegan then has phenoxyethanol in it nightmare.
I Yuka literally everything before I buy. I am so well informed now about what is safe to use or consume and what is toxic. I’ve subscribed and so I can also check the name of a product online before I buy, without having to scan. I just love this and pass it on to people I meet when shopping when they ask what I’m doing. I feel like a crusader. Lol
Thanks for this information but do they do any shampoo etc for blk Caribbean hair.
Us your app overtime i go shopping passed it on too loads of people keep up the good work
i lurrrrrrve yuka
Love the app, it really opens your eyes about how bad things are for you, not just in food. What about shampoo and conditioner’s for bleached hair please?
Thank you
Is there a shampoo that helps unblock DHT from your hair follocles.
There is a shampoo on FB advertised called Spartan and it looks good . But is far to expensive .
I’m just looking for that safe shampoo that helps hair loss.
Any recommendations would be great full.
Thankyou.
Dave
Thanks for updates,
My brother in 🇮🇪 and myself in Scotland 🏴 are both self proclaimed ambassadors for Yuka,
Collectively we’ve seen folk download the app ( 100’s).
Thank you for your efforts Some posts for hair conditioners and face moisturiser too
Thank you for this. It was an interesting read. A few products, I would have never even scanned into your app, appear here, like a Head and Shoulders option. Maybe there’s hope after all.
The shampoos sounds and looks good. But Which of these shampoos are vegan
for hair permanent colour/ dye protection?
Are any of these shampoos suitable for afro-textured hair?
Your teamwork is excellent quality thank you so much
Absolutely love the product you’ve built and am an immense advocate.
One question – there’s research out there regarding the effect of microplastics from plastic containers on human health. One stating the impacts of microplastics have reduced sperm count by 50% between the Greatest Generation and their grandchildren, Generation Y.
Is Yuka looking to include this in its ratings at some point?
When I say microplastics, I mean the leaching of plastics from containers (skincare products, foods, clothing) into our bodies.
Thank you for recommendations…this is good news and very helpful ♥ 👍 ☺
Any recommendations for grey hair , generally they are purple shampoos for combating brassiness.
i would like to see less plastic, no animal testing and support of smaller ethical business not owned by large corps. OGX is owned by Kenvue- operated on stoel Palestinian land.
Fantastic and good to know
These shampoos are not for people of colour
Very helpful. Thank you.
I’ve recently come across The Cornish Seaweed Bath company with all natural products and no nasties
How about John Masters Organic?
What about Green People and Faith in Nature? 😀
Moo goo do less plastic refills too
You are amazing! Love your app!!! All my family using it!
Already use the Moo goo
But good to have a swap occasionally
I’ve been using Yuka for a while now, and it’s honestly eye-opening. You don’t realise how many everyday products contain questionable ingredients until you start scanning them. This shampoo list is a perfect example; some of the top brands people trust actually score lower than expected, while more natural or independent brands perform much better. Really useful tool for making healthier choices, and the transparency is what sets it apart. One quick scan can completely change what ends up in your basket. Please continue with this type of email
It’s a game changer for sure. If I’m in 2 minds I’ll scan and if it comes up below par it goes straight back on the shelf
Better formulations but I agree with Julie…still too much plastic packaging.
Have a look at The Cornish Seaweed Bath company. Minimal plastic
Always good to be informed of all alternatuve products. So helpful.
Thank you for your help.
But I just need to know what hair colour (tinting) is good?
Appreciated
Thankyou for your comment Jackie. I assumed animal testing would have been a priority with Yuka too .
Prefer Avalon organics to all of the above.
Thank you though for this .
Wasn’t convinced with OGX when I looked at their ingredients list . Ummmm
Great selection although I wouldn’t use
OGX it’s tested on animals I’ll do some
research on the others
Will you please recommend shampoo for grey hair. Also mascara that is not feeel sticking on the lashes.
That’s really helpful. Thank you
I’d have liked to see more solid shampoos wrapped in cardboard rather than plastic bottles.
Have you tried the Child’s Farm Oat shampoo? It gets a great score and both myself and my kids use it!
I use your app for pretty much everything from beauty to snack. It is really helpful. Thank you for making this app so easy to use not only with product information but also to provide with alternative safer and healthier options.
Can you please share the top 10 shampoo for coloured hair please. I apply henna and want a shampoo that will protect the colour in each wash along the hair and scalp health.
Thank you for this information. Will have look at these.
Shireen
MooGoo is great, been using it for a while.
Your app is awesome!!
So thankful for your app , I am already using Faith in Nature
Thanks for the recommendation
Thank you for sharing this. I was treated to some Cornish Seaweed Bath Company shampoo – excellent but out of my price range most of the time. Really welcome these alternatives, tku.
It’s great to see these products and read what others are using too.
An added ph value for each would be great to ensure they’re acid balanced, any chance of that being considered for a future review please?
I use Yuka when looking at new items – it’s very good to know the details 🙂
Thank you for information. Brilliant.
I only use products ‘Not tested on animals’, so it would be useful if you added that to the first view reviews for each product. I know Faith in nature are good, but I haven’t heard of some of the others. Otherwise, thanks for the list, I hate chemicals so it is a help.
Thank you for this information. I would really like to know as a Afro & European hair stylists are these shampoo’s also dedicated to Afro hair as I know a lot of my clients including myself use this App?
Thank you for the info about shampoos .
Thanks so much for this information
I currently use Aveda for dry hair and my hair looks good. I appreciate all the advice regarding ingredients and would be very happy to to change but only if the results would be the same. Thank you for all your effort.
I would buy anything in a plastic bottle
Did you mean ‘wouldnt’, I agree if you did, it’s a shame it’s all plastic.
thank u for real advice for good shampoo.
Brilliant work. Thank you
Great ,thankyou
Hi Julie
Thanks for sharing this with us
They seem to be shampoos that aren’t in the shops where we go much though
Sounds great thank you for the always great advice 🙏
So helpful! Thank you!
Brill many thanks for useful information
Just out of interest have you tested Odylique Gentle Herb Shampoo. I have psoriasis and it is so gentle and good.
Thank you for info about good shampoo
Thank you🌹
Thank you that’s a very useful service
very interesting
Thank you so much for your help. Your app is a must when shopping.
Cornish Seaweed company shampoo is 65/100 and the conditioner 51/100, both rated good, but I’d have thought they would have had a higher rating. I’m using them through my chemo for delicate hair loss!
I’ve just bought some now and waiting for it to arrive as also just finished active cancer treatment and wanted to “clean up” my skin and hair care. Given the price of the Cornish seaweed products I’m really disappointed they rank so poorly on yuka (not yet scanned a not arrived). They say they re chemical free, does the tuna app say different? I will return if ratings poor.
Thanks for shampoo recommendations – interesting and useful information as always
I love these ‘Top 10s’ Thank you Yuka. I also love the ability to search for well-rated products now I have subscribed. Well worth the annual fee to keep Yuka doing what you do best.
Can you put these on the Yuka app please ?
Thank you very much. I have learnt so much since using your website
What would you recommend for fine hair that is falling out. Thank you for any advice.
Very helpful when choosing a shampoo, thank you.
Thanks you very informative
I need all my products to be cruelty free and some of these are not
Hi Helen would you expand on that as its extremely important for me too.
Very useful, thank you.
Thank you for the updated information on shampoo and conditioners
Thankyou ido appropriate these ,i follow your suggestions on suntan lotion ,thankyou,my2 daughters follow you as well .
Thank you so much I appreciate you .
Thanks . Very useful.
Brilliant. Thank you
Thank you so much. This is so useful to know. Keep up the good work.
Thank you good product
I would recommend Biotin & Collagen Shampoo – OGX as I was losing a lot of hair its now stopped. Great infirmation thank you so much
A small company called House of Mistry produces all natural soaps, shampoos and creams. I’ve used them for years.
Biotin & Collagen Shampoo – OGX is super and easily available in shops.
Could you do the same survey on conditioners please?
Since using the OGX range, including the biotin and collagen one shown above, my hair has felt much softer and healthier
Thanks for sharing this information. I’m going through the menopause and have lost alot of hair. Can you do a list of affordable products which actually work for this problem.
I have found anything with rice water protein to be brilliant. Personally I use KinKind or Kitsch solid shampoos of this range. I used to shed a lot of hair (which sucked as i have very thin hair) and I barely lose any when using these two bars. KinKind are UK based but Kitsch is available on Amazon.
Hi Clare, I’ve seen these solid shampoos, but not really sure about them, I take it you lather your hands well then massage it in, is that so? I guess I’ve got hand soap in mind and think it would be hard to rinse out. I do like the idea of no plastic bottle too though. Any advice on using solid soap would be much appreciated.
I’ve been using Gruum shampoo bars for several years now. I really rate them. I get it on subscription – not had one recently to scan so I don’t know how it measures up to Yuka’s standards
Weird, I can only reply to myself. Yes, both solid. I was really sceptical myself before hand but now a convert. You can either lather in your hand but I find it easier to literally run the bar over my scalp like I’m using a comb. KinKind is very lathersome (is that a word), Kitsch not as much but I do a second go after rinsing the first, a couple of swipes and I get a massive lather. As I said, fine hair, so I’m really not using much at a time. I had to use someone else’s normal bottle shampoo recently and it felt so slimy compared to my solid bars so I’m definitely a changed woman!
Becks, I just scanned the gruum coconut shampoo and conditioner bars and they were rated excellent. Nice, but as they don’t have the rice protein I get some hair loss. I got them free on a promo so it was worth a try. They’re my back ups or will give to hubby. He currently has the rest of my ECO warrior one.
Sorry, Becky. Odd autocorrect
I highly recommend Urtekram shampoo and conditioner. Rated excellent on Yuka and my hair is in lovely, shiny condition. I use the colour preserve version. Smells great too!
Thank you so much for this I’ve been looking for natural shampoos for ages on the supermarket shelves and local shops
I have never, not once, seen Biotin & Collagen Shampoo – OGX for £1.30. It’s £8 at Tesco, on offer you can pick it up for £4. If I can get it somewhere for £1.30, I beg of you, tell me where.
I now see it’s per 100 ml and take it back.
The biotin & collagen conditioner is rated bad by Yuka but the shampoo is rated excellent, which is a shame because I would have liked to use them together.
I do use the two together. I hadn’t seen the rating for the conditioner. I still stand by my comment that my hair feels softer and healthier since using the OGX range,
Love your app, really helpful. Thank you!
Hi, this article has come at just the right time. I am looking for a new shampoo to try as my hair is not what it was now I’m getting older. Very useful and informative. Thank you.
You forgot about Urtekram shampoo for children is 100/100 natural ingredients
Is it only the Rosemary Faith in Nature one that is excellent please?
Good to know. I struggle to find shampoos and even more so conditioners… sometimes scanning a whole shelf with YUKA app.
Please can you state which products are cruelty free not tested on animals and contain no animal product
Thank you
Thank you Yuka… I always value and am interested in your recommendations… please keep them coming 👍
Do you mention if the products are vegan/cruelty free? Maybe I’ve over looked this info? Thank you
I agree, it’s a shame there isn’t a filter for those. Although I want to use products rated highly by Yuka, if they involve the torture of animals, I’ll happily use harsh chemicals instead
I actually use the Biotin and Collagen shampoo and it’s very good. I have very fine hair.
I’ve also been using the seaweed company shampoo and really like it. Are you able to let us know it’s rating?
The Cornish Seawood Bath co shampoo is totally natural and is fabulous and should be on that list 😊
I’ve just started using these as my hair is thinning and needs a lot of tlc! Looking forward to seeing positive progress as they’re very expensive!
Thank you, really useful. Could you possibly give advice on good lipsticks- I am having a lot of trouble finding one that is not bad or poor and I wear it every day. Many thanks , Sue
Hello, our kids shampoo bars are also on your app and our Percy & Pop unfragranced bar is more highly rated than this list! They also come in allergen-free Strawberry and Orange. Check us out! 😊 http://www.percyandpop.com
I would like to have seen some less ‘off the shelf’ shampoos like
Dermaviduals Shampoo Bar. It contains only good things. Great for Eczema, Psoriasis scalps but good for anyone.
I am just trying The Cornish Seaweed Bath company as an all rounder for my clients.
It’s Brilliant isn’t it !
Thank you so much for the 10 best shampoo list very much appreciated
I never buy a shampoo without checking your app. Thank u
I have to use Provoke Gloss shampoo for grey hair. Is it good?
I’d be interested to know as well Lizzie. At the moment I use Milk Shajea Icy Blond fir my grey hair
Love this app
I have used the MooGoo one which is excellent, I also use their face wash and moisturiser. Faith in Nature makes my scalp itch. The best I have found by a long way is the Cornish Seaweed Company shampoo & conditioner. Just fabulous and well worth a mention.
Brilliant advice as always – thanks Yuka!
Check out the range by Miniml – I found their shampoo and shower gel and think they were rated 96/100. 👌
Was looking the different shampoos to see which one was best for me
Fabulous email always use your recommendations, thank you.
Could you do a review for women’s hair loss best shampoos conditioners and scalp benefits for new hair growth DHT blockers less shedding for menopause chemo etc.
My hair was thin and falling and I use Cornish Seaweed Company shampoo & conditioner. Very good and I have lots of new hairs growing. I have also used Georgie Mane from Australia products for hair loss – the treatment spray and Hair Mask and very good and appear to work their magic Good luck finding what works for you.
Thank you but also could you include shampoo for older women I’m using clay and one for DHT blocking
Could you do DHT blocking shampoos, many thanks
Fab- very good list with great products- thank you!
Would be helpful to state locations where these products may be found and acquired.
Body Shop ginger shampoo actually works for flaky scalp.
Thank you a very useful email.
Could you also do hair conditioners and hair dyes ?
This is great info and just what i need been in the supermarkets scanning all the shampoos
There are lots of hundred rated shampoos as well. Just a note. Those could have been included.
Yes agreed. Sanex zero for children has 93/100
Love these emails
I always look for the products rated excellent
As always a great email full of info which makes such a difference. It’s great to see products I know and can relate to – esp as they are also British, Eco & animal friendly – essential to our purchasing
Would be good to have reviews on brands available in Europe/Italy.
Thank you
I agree , living in Spain I can’t find these brands
You might find Urtekram online there? Really lovely shampoo and conditioner rated excellent. I can see a Spanish translation on the label!
