September’s here, and nothing beats a protein-packed bite 🥜
Peanut butter isn’t just comfort food — it’s a powerhouse snack that upgrades smoothies, toast, and everything in between. With plenty of protein and rich flavor, it’s a classic that sticks.
Real peanut butter is meant to be simple — just peanuts. But here’s the scoop: many popular brands sneak in added sugars, oils, and unnecessary additives.
To help you spread smarter, we’ve rounded up 10 of the best-rated peanut butters on Yuka. Simple, made with ingredients you can trust. Peanut better, one spoonful at a time. 😉

??What about Teddie’s Organic P’nut Butter??
Thank you. Looking forward to trying these out. A lot of times it is hard to find these. Will start with Amazon
Thank you
I use Teddy’s Unsalted Creamy Peanut Butter. Peanuts the only ingredient. Delicious.
Sweeeet!! I’ve been looking for a healthier peanut butter. I love Peter Pan so its gonna be hard to find one that meets my expectations.
The best peanut butter is fresh ground, and it can be purchased in most grocery stores.
Is there a reason why there are no chunky or “with Peanuts” peanut butters on the list? I will change to creamy if it’s better. thank You!
Where is Teddies rated?
I was also wondering the same. Personally, I’m a big fan of Teddies unsalted & salted offerings. That, and the fact that they are a locally produced staple!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I rely on Your web site to find pure and almost pure products. I look at the oils added too. Thank You
Joy
Do any of your favorites come “chunky” style?
I so appreciate this information! I love peanut butter, and it’s my go to when I need a snack, I really quick snack. Thank you!
Thank you. Smucker’s Natural Peanut Butter appears to be discontinued at Stop and Shop, I’ll look for these elsewhere.
Except for the peanut butters with no added salt in your list which scored higher, are the scores on the others with sea salt graded on the amount of added salt? Since that wasn’t mentioned/listed, I wasnt sure.
I like the peanut butter
Thank you, very helpful!
Where’s the Teddie?
Most (All?) of the major peanut butter brands have palm oil, including Justin’s. But you can obviously scan them in the store to see how they each rate.
Excellent !!!! Very helpful, I am on a strict diet due to kidney disease and I need to know this type of info.
I hope Yuka will give more helpful info in the future frequently ! Thanks
I will look for them and compare price with my Skippy and Peter Pan
Thank you for this information. I’m happy my Weis brand is in the top 10.
Thank you for the research! Much appreciated!
Thank you for keeping us informed
love your recommendations! so helpful while shopping
What about crunchy? 😢
Me too, crunchy??
Love love this app, use it all the time.
Thank you
Thank you for sharing very helpful
I’d like to know where the popular ones fall…Jif, Skippy’s, Peter Pan etc…thats what most peeps eat.
I buy Old Home exclusively. It’s in the refrigerator section and a Minnesota product. It’s organic and the ingredients are peanuts and salt.
3 of these in our pantry now! Thanks Julie. Everyone remember to be aware of xylitol with dogs and its other name “birch” sugar.
I would like to know what is in a glass jar as opposed to plastic. I always choose organic, sugar free, and in glass.
Thank you! This is such timely practical content! Much appreciated!!

Love Trader Joe’s but expensive now at Amazon. I am going to retry Smuckers and Santa Fe.
love the app and the emails, thank you!
Thanks for the update
Thanks for the update on peanut butter. I chose the Whole Foods brand because I was looking for an item without salt or sugar.
no information anywhere about aflatoxin
I so appreciate all the work, time, and research you do at Yuka.
Are there any crunchy peanut butters?
I’d like more information about products just like this article. Keep them coming. Thank you
I grind peanuts to make my peanut butter. If I were to purchase peanut butter it would be Adam’s which tou forgot to mention.
I love the Yuka app. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this information I’ll try them. I’ve been eating Laura Scudders All Natural
Kirkland is runny all of the time. Just too much oil. I let it sit upside down for a week, shook it and it’s still runny. Have crystallized something in the corners.
Thank you! Super helpful
seriously? no teddy’s? in glass jars. the best. just peanuts & salt
Teddies peanut butter
We use “Crazy Richard’s” 100% Peanuts Creamy Peanut Butter which Yuka rates Excellent @ 84/100. Its nutritional facts seem identical to the ones rated @ 94/100. What are the ingredients or process of Crazy Richard’s that causes it to have a lesser rating?
The top 4 are all rated 94… so I’m curious what makes the first one #1 and the fourth one #4? The descriptions are all pretty much the same.
Unfortunately out of all these I’ve only heard of Trader Joe’s and Smucker’s and neither one, nor any of the rest are sold in north Idaho. Thanks for the headsup though. We have to drive to Spokane WA for Trader Joe’s.
It would have been helpful if you included “glass bottle” or “plastic bottle” in your descriptions.
Using Crazy Richards Crunchy which Yuka rate 78/100 Excellent. Only one available at my Walmart. Will look for Smuckers next time as they do carry Smuckers products.
Thank you appreciate it.
Love your app. We use it all the time when we are grocery shopping.
So many people want to see a rating for this peanut butter or that peanut butter, but the answer is very easy: just use the app the next time you go to the store. It will give you the same information we have here. As the headline says, this is just the “Top Ten” collected together for convenience, not an exhaustive list.
Any ratings or suddestions on non-creamy peanut?
Love your app. We use it all the time and have met others in the grocery store using it!! It gives some peace of mind to the daunting task of healthy shopping for the family.
I’ve tried Kirkland brand several times. The problem is that’s it’s so thin and runny. In fact you can literally pour it from the jar onto your bread. I’ve tried refrigerating it which causes it to thicken up so much that you can’t spread it without tearing the bread
I agree. And cannot get any of the other highly rated products here.
No creamy peanut butter is good. Crunchy rules!
Thank you for this. It is my daily morning staple. I’ll be sharing with friends!!
This is the best app. I love it
What about the powdered peanut butter I get from Walmart?
Many of these are in plastic containers, which has become a concern for us. Is this a factor worth including in assessments?
Thanks! I can pick one up when I’m at Costco!
No ‘crunchy’ ones? Why not?
I like chunky much better. None of there are chunky. Aren’t there any that are chunky???
See my post. Crazy Richards crunch is rated 78/100 Excellent. Available at Walmart.
Thank you all for all you do.
I wonder what the difference is between a 94 rating and an 88 rating. On brand has a small amount of added salt, but still got a top rating. And why are the ratings 94, insatead of 100? What removed 6% of the rating?
Thanks for the great service you provide to the community.
How do I get to purchase which shop ?
Bravo for Yuka all your recommended products are supper!
Thank you for all your hard work. It would be helpful if in the future you could mention which come in glass vs. plastic containers.
I’ve been purchasing the Smuckers Organic Peanut Butter & I love it. Unlike some of the others it does not have to be refrigerated which makes it easy to spread.
Thank you for doing this. I scan everything & put things back now!!
I have come to rely on Yuka ratings for all the products I buy! Thank you for doing the research.
Thank you for this list! I so appreciate your app and the work you do.
Thank you!
I’ll have to look into this
Thanks for all your work in this. God Bless
Is chunky healthier than creamy?
While I’ve used many on your list , I only buy peanut butter in glass jars. Trying not to buy food items in plastic jars.
I love your app. It might take me a little longer to shop, but it’s worth it. Thank you!
Yes, shopping time has greatly extended with the app!!
I’d like to know which one of these peanut butters has the closest taste and smooth consistency of Jiff?
Much appreciated
What about Justin’s Peanut Butter?
I ditched all the well known brands
What about the top 10 crunchy peanut butter??
I love this app so much, you wouldn’t believe the hours I’ve spent at stores looking for healthy foods that taste good, they are out there, just takes a little time, I’ve told everyone I know about this app!
I’m learning to like peanut butter altogether (i am from Europe and grown up on nutella), plus i’m going through perimenopause and have to kick up my daily protein intake. Peanut butter has always confused me 🙂 Thank you for this research, I’ll be more confident now! 🙏
I buy HEB Organics Cream Peanut Butter to make my peanut butter protein balls. It is low in sodium and 7 grams of protein. Thanks for all your comparisons so we know how to shop for peanut butter wisely.
What about Crazy Richards ?
I buy mine at Aldis, it has only dry roasted organic peanuts and sea salt. It is delicious!
THANK YOU!!!!!
Glad to see Trader Joe’s 1st. What about their crunchy unsalted? It has been my favorite for years. The problem with peanuts is the story that they have mold because of how peanuts are processed after harvest. ?? Thank you very much.
Love Smuckers! Most of the other brands are not available in my rural area.
So glad to see Kirkland Organic PB on your list. Before I stir the separated oil, I spoon out 4 or 5 teaspoons of it and then mix it all up. Then put it into the fridge.
I also recommend Crazy Richard’s. Nothing added. Just peanuts! Delicious!
Can’t imagine why Justin’s is not even on this list. Not only is it all natural. There’s a variety of different flavors.
Doesn’t Justin’s have palm oil added?
Thank for the results
I love getting this information!!!! Thank you so much!!! We need all the help we can get
navigating the system!!!
Ratings not as insightful as those from Serious Eats.
We
For Aldi lovers….Simply Nature Organic Creamy Peanut Butter also gets score 85
I grind peanuts at the market and find this to be very filling
Wellsley Farms ( BJs) comes up 82 Excellent on the app.
Thanks. I love the comparisons and ratings. Very helpful for future purchases that offer a variety of markets to shop.
May I suggest, Whole Foods also has the machine where it’s filled with peanuts, where you grind the amount of peanut butter you want. They also have Honey roasted peanuts and almond. You can’t get better than fresh ground peanut butter or Almond butter.
Can you do amix of almonds and peanuts if desired?
Thanks, Yuka! Always great information!
This is a great list. It’s not easy being a healthy peanut butter lover. It would be great if on the app you could include a picture of the ingredients label. Just a friendly suggestion. Thank you!
You might also check out a New England fave that is slated to be stocked at Publix and Whole Foods—Teddie brand which offers an organic option for crunchy and creamy styles.
I like the Teddie’s super chunky 👍🏼
Yes! How did Teddie’s miss the list?!
Can you rate chunky nut butters?
Thanks for info. Would this hold true for almond butter also?
Thank you
Thank you so much for the list and your app. I use it everything I go to the store. I just bought a jar of the smuckers organic. I like crazy Richard’s as well. Thank you for your hard work.
Yealp that smuckers creamy is so good this app exposes a lot of crap on aisles at grocery store appreciate this app
I really appreciate these lists! I am making better choices 👍
Thank you for the updates that you email.. love the Yuka app.. is so very helpful and informative! I appreciate you taking the time to send emails. Have a blessed day😊
Over the past several years, I really look at the ingredients. I really like Adams, just peanuts and in a glass jar.
