TOP 10 Peanut Butters šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡²

September’s here, and nothing beats a protein-packed bite 🄜

Peanut butter isn’t just comfort food — it’s a powerhouse snack that upgrades smoothies, toast, and everything in between. With plenty of protein and rich flavor, it’s a classic that sticks.

Real peanut butter is meant to be simple — just peanuts. But here’s the scoop: many popular brands sneak in added sugars, oils, and unnecessary additives.

To help you spread smarter, we’ve rounded up 10 of the best-rated peanut butters on Yuka. Simple, made with ingredients you can trust. Peanut better, one spoonful at a time. šŸ˜‰

Simply Nature from Aldi’s organic PNB has not only clean ingredients….dry roasted organic peanuts but is also creamy with little effort to mix in any oils that separated. Do you have any concerns with it?

Why no crunchy versions included? We all know crunchy pbutter is the best! If it just has roasted peanuts – and maybe salt – why are they not all the same rating? Based on taste or something else?

Are they mycotoxin tested? My Doctors said the Kirkland brand has 35% less mycotoxins than the others. All peanuts in the US are contaminated with carcinogenic mycotoxins, due to how the peanuts are stored before shipping to the product manufacturer. The same with corn, oats and wheat, even organic.

Work at Costco. As a Product Demonstrator using the Yuka app is necessary. Peanut Butter has been one of the foods concerning to me. Checking label gives bare information. So many of the putters separate with the added oil on top.. Disgusting. But finding one with just peanuts and salt as you featured is almost impossible. Checking back on Costco Brand tomorrow. Was even duped at Stew Leonard’s, Danbury..Ah, A peanut grinder allowing me to grind my own peanuts. I was happy. Not so fast, seems other things were add to the grinding mix. However SL did have a Pure Peanut butter near the grinder.

Seconding Crazy Richard’s – they have creamy (the best one IMO) and crunchy, which is also the best crunchy PB I’ve had.

Only downside (like every store-bought peanut butter I’ve encountered) is the mold inherent in the peanuts.

as with all of your ratings having issues with, should not the peanut butter be dinged for calories some of the dings on items with high caloric values. like for instance we have the pbs 94/100 and then you go the next one exactly the same drops to 88/100.?????

I would like to believe in Yuka ratings but there is no information here to back them up. If they do explain how they came up with the ratings elsewhere on their site, it should at least be linked somewhere in the story. I also find it strange that they ranked PB in plastic containers highly since they must contain micro plastics. And what about mold and other contaminants/toxins? If you’re going to down rank PB just for containing salt, you should also include contaminants.

    9

    1. Kirsten

Valencia peanuts are best for that reason. They’re grown in a tree and not on the dirty ground where they can pick up more contaminants

      2

      1. Jeff

All peanuts are grown in the ground not on a tree

        4
      2. Russell

Not even addressing the tree part (what?) valencias are considered low quality peanuts…that’s why they are used for peanut butter.

      3. Lisa

Valencia peanuts are low in aflatoxins because they are grown above ground in dry climates like New Mexico. They are less susceptible to those mold toxins, therefore better than regular peanuts for peanut butter.

  99. Kirsten

I feel like Costco PB should maybe get a higher rating, after all , it’s made with Valencia peanuts grown on a tree and not on the ground, supposedly better for us with less chance of contaminants.. but maybe most of those have the same type of.

Most likely you are allergic to the mold, not the peanut butter itself. Unfortunately, the only solution is to grow your own and be very careful to prevent mold in your peanuts. It is somewhat challenging.

I think it would be a big hit for you to start a GMO free site or add on.
People are really starting to get interested in what is in our foods. And those who are not should learn. It’s really very important on top of everything else.
I try to speak to as many as I can about this. As I did with the hundreds I have met thought the years about your site when it came out. Great job-and good luck if u decide to do it. Elizsbeth

You left out Adams Natural Crunchy Peanut Butter. You didn’t rate it as high because of additional calories but sometimes you need those extra calories, especially growing kids and active people who burn a lot of calories.
Also I want to say, I LOVE your app!! Keep up the good work!!

I love PB and eat it almost daily! That said, I never eat it from a spoon or in large clumps because it is a choking hazard. Its sticky, pasty texture can form an airway obstruction and can be very difficult to clear from the throat. This is especially true for children, people with swallowing problems, and people with disabilities. Yes, I know, you’ve done it for years with no problems, but as a Speech Pathologist I know it can also be fatal. Awareness is everything, so just want to put this info out there for those interested.

    HI, I have 2 questions:
10 with exactly the same ingredients (according to text above) yet notes vary from 85 to 94: Why?
Best grade is 94 (not 100): why?
I’m trying to understand what may still be best avoided in the products you list.

Blend a bag of organically grown peanuts at low to high speed to desired consistency; scoop into a glass jar and refrigerate. To get out all the peanut butter in the blender, whip up a smoothie, using banana or other fruit, liquid, and enjoy the least bit of fresh peanut flavor. And NO plastic to discard.

Curious what factors were used to come up with the rankings. Was price considered? I’ve been buying the Kirkland brand for quite a while and love the taste & relatively low salt content. But would try the others if there were reasons to do so.

Not very scientific. Plastic containers should be lower rated than glass. You did not check for mold, a major issue, as is rodent droppings. And, you should be very clear as to why they are rated. Flavor? Purity? I prefer Valencia peanuts as they are lower in aflatoxins.

I think to get an excellent rating a peanut butter should only have peanuts and salt as ingredients. Still have to look at ingredients even with excellent ratings.
