5 — 7 reviews

Delight your senses with this colorful Tofu and Cabbage Stir Fry, a quick and easy dish that’s bursting with color and flavor. Perfect for busy evenings, this recipe combines protein rich tofu, fresh vegetables, and a tantalizing spicy citrus sauce 🌶️ It’s a healthy meal that doesn’t compromise on taste. Serve over rice and finish with sesame seeds and green onions for an irresistible dinner that everyone will love!

Ingredients4 Servings

  • 1 block of firm or extra firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 small carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • A pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper, for heat
  • 1 TBSP honey
  • 2 TBSP of low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • Garnish: sesame seeds and sliced green onion

Directions:

1

In a large pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.

2

In the same pan, add the remaining olive oil. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Then, add the cabbage, bell pepper, and carrots. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

3

In a small bowl, mix the orange juice, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and honey to make the spicy citrus sauce. Return the tofu to the pan, pour the sauce over the stir-fry, and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Serve hot over brown rice and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onion.

Notes:

  • Feel free to use or add other citrus fruit such as lemon, lime or tangerines for the spicy citrus sauce.
  • You can also use pre-shredded or julienned carrots to reduce prep time.
  • Feeling extra colorful 🌈 Add some red cabbage to the mix for more vibrancy.

Bon appétit and enjoy 🥰 ☀️

I noticed two of the recipes you kindly shared have soy sauce in them. Soy sauce triggers my migraines – can you add substitutes ? Thanks for creating the Yuka app / its been very useful

So happy to hear that you are enjoying the Yuka app 🥕 You could use tamari sauce or coconut aminos!

I will definitely try this recipe. I will grate my tofu though, that way my husband doesn’t realize that he is eating tofu 😂 😉

Thank you for the recipe. I will definitely try it but will leave out the oil. Please do some research and find out oil that has been removed from the fruit is not good for you.

We just made and devoured this recipe. Wow. Delicious! We substituted liquid aminos for the soy sauce. Also added more red pepper flakes.

Can’t believe how great this tastes Thanks for the awesome idea. I enjoy eating recipes that taste amazing without eating animals. People forget that the protein you get from animals comes from the protein in the plants that they eat.. I actually put my tofu in an air fryer, which is less work and doesn’t stick to the pan

Thank you for your feedback! Please feel free to swap out the tofu for another protein of your liking. Another lower carb vegetable could be used in place of the carrots – broccoli or mushrooms for example.
