Peanut butter is a cupboard staple that can be enjoyed in countless ways: spread on toast, stirred into porridge, blended into smoothies, added to pancakes or simply eaten by the spoonful. Naturally rich in protein, it can be both tasty and nutritious 🥜
There’s a huge variety to choose from, but not all peanut butters are made the same. The simplest recipe contains only peanuts, while others may include added sugars, salt, oils or other unnecessary ingredients.
To help you navigate the options and perhaps discover a new favourite, we’ve selected 10 of the best-rated peanut butters on Yuka.

Thank you, I appreciate the research you’ve done and presented it to us. Over the years I’ve avoided peanut butter with the various additives but now know what to buy and enjoying it again!
Really enoy the Yuka app. Helps me shop and avoid the flood of additives in food and cosmetics. Glad you’re enjoying NYC life. I’ve startes drinking coffee from company Exhale please can we have a ground/coffee bean comparison shocking the mycotoxin and mold in some. Keep up the good work Yuka.
So good to have decent recommendations thank you.
Why are they all smooth and not crunchie ones ?
There’s crunchy ones in there
Why is Pip and Nut not in this?
Are the peanut butters shown ok for diabetics thank you for information
Hi James! 😊 Yuka evaluates products based on their nutritional quality, additives, and organic certification, but our ratings aren’t tailored to specific medical conditions like diabetes. We’d recommend checking the sugar and carbohydrate content of each peanut butter and consulting your healthcare professional to see which options are suitable for you. 💚
Thanks. Bought a jar of Meridian today because of your suggestion.
Some of these should lose points due to being in plastic containers, which contribute to our microplastic ingestion. Would be great to know which ones are in glass or plastic jars please.
Hi Amanda! Thanks for your suggestion! Yuka’s food ratings focus on nutritional quality, additives, and organic certification, so packaging isn’t currently taken into account. We don’t yet have a feature to distinguish between glass and plastic packaging, but I’ll be happy to share your idea with our team!
Thank you, that’s very helpful. We like peanut butter and it’s great to know our local shops sell the best varieties.
Grandessa from Aldi 84/100, only £3.99 for a Kg
I like this. Where can you buy the Mediterranean organic peanut butter?
Thanks for testing these product this is such a great app for those who takes their health seriously much appreciated.
What about Pip n nut? I thought that was really healthy?
Agree totally .
I eat crunchy peanut butter daily on toast for breakfast . Love it.
… so lovely to be reassured on your findings 🌟x. We have been loving Organic Meridian crunchy peanut butter for a very long time ! And always the crunchy ! Yummy and so love the no added salt … just the peanuts ! Always “tops” for us 🌟… and love ‘tops’ with you too 🌟x
THANK YOU
Thanks Julie thats good to know
Thank you . I love peanut butter and this makes it so much easier to buy
Morrisons smooth peanut butter is also made of 100% peanuts. Why only the crunchy one made it to the top?
Hi Kasia! 😊 Our Top 10 lists use an algorithm that limits how many times the same brand can appear. This helps us feature a wider variety of products while maintaining our independence and avoiding giving any one brand too much visibility.
Thanks will give one a try
I just a lot of your first choices are from the UK the grocery stores I shopped at five years ago, but they don’t have them here, in the USA thank you for the update again, pointed out that we are alloying a lot of food in the USA that the Europeans would never allow the stores to sellann
Hi Ann! This particular Top 10 list features peanut butters available in the UK, which explains why you might not recognize some of the brands. We also have a Top 10 Peanut Butters list specifically for the USA, with products you can find in American grocery stores. Feel free to check it out by clicking here!
I love whole earth organic. It tastes great.
What about Pip & Nut peanut butter?
Thank you for this post, I do buy alot of peanut butter and this is very helpful, I do use Yuka all the time and lots of people have join because they see me using it in all shops.
These are mostly from UK and I’m in Australia !
Hi Rosie! If you’re receiving our UK newsletter, it’s likely because your Yuka app is set to the UK region. You can change this by going to your app’s settings and selecting Australia as your region. That way, you’ll receive our Australian newsletters with products available locally 😊
I am interested to know what the weightings were for the scoring. All the products are 100% peanuts so what makes some butters score 90% and others 84% when there are only marginal differences between them in things like calorific value and fibre content etc ?
Ditto, I was coming here to make exactly the same comment. I’ve seen surprisingly different scores for similar products in other areas, and in order to be able to trust your scores, I need to know whether the difference between 84% and 90% is based on objective differences (eg the levels of protein or fibre they declare), or based weaknesses or random elements in the scoring algorithm?
Hi Andy! Thanks for your question! Yuka’s food ratings are based on nutritional quality (60%), additives (30%), and organic certification (10%). Nutritional quality is calculated using the Nutri-Score, which considers calories, saturated fat, sugar, fiber, protein, and other nutrients. Even small nutritional differences between products containing 100% peanuts can affect their scores. Organic certification can also add up to 10 points!. You can click here to learn more about how we rate food products.
Why not also include Aldi 100% peanuts peanut butter – I think made by Grandessa? It too scores 84% on the app and is probably cheaper than some of these.
Very useful love the app helps with my weight loss and helping with my grandsons ADHD with checking food values. Thank you
Your app has changed the way I shop as it’s has opened up my brain to see how bad advertising can say items are good when they are not thank you
I use Dutchy Organic smooth
Love it
Interesting. I always get Pip n Nut which isnt here.
It has added salt
Mix Whole Earth peanut butter with Greek yogurt, grated apple and chopped walnuts as a topping to overnight oats. Yummy 😋
‘Smooth’Meridian for me.
Fantastic to know and…. I use your number one brand so am super happy.
Please see below the Morrisons product is no longer available. Now 97% only. https://groceries.morrisons.com/products/morrisons-crunchy-peanut-butter/104420835
Thank you for sharing this very helpful
Very interesting and most useful.
Thanks for the info, Julie. I grew up on Skippys peanut butter and now enjoy Trader Joe’s organic creamy peanut butter no salt Valencia which you rate at 94/100. I cannot go food shopping anywhere without my Yuka app!!! Thank you!
You are not comparing like with like. Grams of proteins in Morrisons but not in others
I enjoy Whole Earth smooth peanut butter, it’s my favourite. It’s not oily like many of the other brands.
I realise there are probably too many to include all in the list … but I use Lidl’s both smooth and crunchy versions (100% roasted peanuts, no palm oil, 1kg) and they are great.
No Pip and nut, very surprising
What about Lidl peanut butter?
Where’s ManiLife!?! The best single origin, high oleic acid peanut butter on the market
My question too.
Love peanut butter, so this list is really helpful.
Why are there no replies from
YUKA to the questions we are all raising? The disparity between this article and the app is extraordinary!
Hi Linzi! We’re working our way through the comments and doing our best to answer everyone’s questions! As for the differences between the article and the app, if you’ve noticed a specific discrepancy, please email us at team@yuka.io so we can take a closer look!
Thank you for confirming what we already knew😊 love peanut butter ❤️
Whole Earth is utterly joyless. Where is Pip and Nut, Pic’s, Manilife…
Absolutely brilliant thank you
How does ‘Pip and Nut’ rate please?
No.8. Can not found though link
My favourite isn’t there. It’s called Manilife especially the deep roast. It has an excellent Yuka rating of 75/100.
this is a pointless list
why Pointless Lee ?
I think this table is poorly checked. The M&S Peanut Butter is rated 90/100 when you scan the jar in the Yuka App but is shown as 67/100 in the table. Which is correct and are there other inaccuracies ?
Yes. No8 doesn’t exist
I love your app it very informative and helpful on my daily shop.
I have discovered this label…..Vilgain Peanut Butter using the app.
Thank you
thank you for the rating. not suree why one peanut butter with 100% nuts onyl as ingredient scores higher than the other.. i was hoping for a bit more detailed description on how it has been ranked
I love the app, but this list is pretty much pointless. Not sure what’s going on here, but I hope this isn’t the start of a decline in what could be a great brand.
Why is M&S peanut butter (Good 67/100) at number 3, when there are others rated considerably higher further down the top 10 list?
Yes, right!? This list makes no sense
I love your app Julie and use all the time especially with new purchases
I do however wish you guys cover the different types of honey
I am 76 and watch what I eat definitely no processed foods in my diet
Thanks once again for your app
Thanks for the information on good peanut butter to buy in the UK. I have been bringing peanut butter from South Africa, whenever I visit because the best brand there is Blackcat with no added oil, salt or sugar & is approved by the heart foundation. So glad you listed Maribel, I’ll look out for it next time I shop!
What about pip and nut peanut butter
I always use Whole Earth.
Because Whole Earth has a small amount of palm oil (4%) there is no separation of the oil from the peanut butter. When roasted oil separates it oxidises “Consuming oxidised or rancid oil damages cell structures, causes systemic inflammation, and increases long-term health risks like heart disease”. So when it says ‘no palm oil’ it should be consumed within a month of it being manufactured to prevent the oxidation side effects
Great list but they’re not in proper order. Id assume the lowest rated one would be right at the bottom of the table ?
When i scan my tesco peanut butter the results come up as 72. And. Not 84 as you have
Hi Sarah! It’s possible that your peanut butter has a different barcode or slightly different nutritional values, which could explain the difference in ratings. Feel free to email us at team@yuka.io with the product’s barcode, and we’ll be happy to look into it for you!
Thanks for the information on peanut spreads. I find it very useful & helpful especially in my quest to improve on the quality of what I choose to eat. Kind regards.
is someone unable to rank these spreads? “100% Peanut Butter Smooth – Marks & Spencer” at 67/100 is at No 3 in the list. How does that happen when it’s the lowest rated?
Aldi’s is possibly the best but not tested by you?
I trust very much your app 🙂
Love the App and use it all the time.
However this article is not helpful. As pointed out by a previous comment the in app score is different to that in the article, the rankings do not make sense with a 100% not at the top and finally the descriptions are flimsy so don’t know why 84 not 100. guessing its oil and additives.
I will continue to subscribe for now but please make them easier to understand.
This is very useful Thankyou, I eat peanut butter a lot so I appreciate knowing which products are best ~ you guys are so good xx
Always the best advice Yuka, thanks
Thank you Yuka, again, for throwing light on another popular food – peanut butter. It’s wonderful how easy you make life choosing healthy options. Use you all the time.
In this email the Maribel crunch peanut butter says 100/100 but when I open the app it says 84/100????
If Maribel is the only 100/100 on the list why is it ranked at number 9 ?
Brilliant, thank you. This saves me a lot of time scanning when I buy peanut butter!
Thank you Julie, I think you’re doing a phenomenal job! I believe everyone should subscribing to your organisation.
Pip & Nut!!! The best. Nothing added!! Just nuts
Thank you Julie, this is excellent info, so glad to be part of the YUKA app group
Manilife no ?
Yes. Where’s Manilife!!
Did you test smunchy?
Thanks for this info. Use your app on all purchases.
What about Mani life and Pip and Nut, I consume gallons of the stuff hahaha
Thank you so much
How come the one from M&S is number three but has 67/100 rating? Could you please explain?
Where is Pip and Nut- I thought that was as pure as you get.
Pip n Nut, manolis, proper nutty. I’ve been doing this for years! The market clearly has many 100% nut butters which is great. I’m not sure it’s where we need help. Or if we do highlight what differentiates one 100% nut butters from another.
You’ve given maribel peanut butter 100/100 here, whilst in the app it is 84/100
?
Thank you, very interesting. I love peanut butter.
Thanks very much i use two of these brands since I been using your App fantastic app . I ve told many friends 🧡
Thankyou for this info 😅great 👍
I agree with Stuart, I’d like to have seen Pup n Nut included, but thanks for the roundup!
Thank you this type of information is always useful
Another Pip n Nut smooth customer here, eat it every day. Surprised there’s no mention when it ranks very high on the Sainsbury’s app, especially vs stodgy Whole Earth and others here.
