Thank you so much for the valuable information. Since I do prefer a hand soap/hand sanitizer with a little scent, I’ll be buying Natural Castle Hand Wash Freshwater Farm. Smell is amazing. Thank you, again.

I use bar soap in my whole house. Plastic pumps are very hard to recycle, if at all, and most end up in landfills, oceans, beaches, etc.
Can you do a “top 10 bar soap”?

Hi, thanks for sending this. It’s very helpful. However, do all these soaps actually clean your hands? For example I used to use Bath & Body Works. They had a soap with these little pits(?). Besides all the good ingredients, It seemed to get stuff off your hands. Then they discontinued it and just had the soap with no pits. Sure it moisturizes and smells good, and all that, but I could still smell what was on my hand before. Thank you.

When you do a search for Meyer’s hand soap you will see they are excellent (scored from 89 -to 93) except for “Fall Leaves” which is poor (39).

Thank you Julie and your team for making a healthy difference in so many lives. Since I have been using your app my health has changed drastically for the better. I used to avoid going to events that included eating due to celiac. Now I bring my own snacks, drinks, and meals and enjoy eating for all occasions.

Its hard to tell, but are any of these in a glass bottle? What’s the point of using a healthy hand soap if it comes in a plastic bottle?

The Natural Castile soap from Freshwater Farm is in a glass bottle. (Others might be also, but this one is for sure.)

I use my Yuka app for my beauty purchases from Dollar Tree (AKA $1.25 store ). You’d be surprised that a LOT of their beauty products rate better than those you pay top $$$$$ for!! I was amazed, because I used to say I would never buy their (face) beauty products. Now I’m there every other day checking out what new products they have on their shelves. Shout out also to $5 Below. They have some good ones as well. Make sure you have the Yuka app.

If you live near a Trader Joe’s in America, they have a peppermint Castillo soap that rates 98/100. It sells for $6.99 for 16 ounces and a little goes a long way. You do have to put it in your own soap pump.

I scanned the Freshwater Mandarin and Cedarwood Oil Castille Hand Soap 3 months ago. The app gave a score of 37/100 Poor, and cited the inclusion of Phenoxyethanol. This article shows a score of 100/100. What would cause such a discrepancy? I bought the soap anyway and am in love with it, so I’m hoping that the 100/100 score is the accurate one!

I don’t see Dr. Bronner’s on the list. Was it reviewed or not considered a handwash? Same question for bar soaps rather than liquid soaps. Were brands like Dr. Bronner’s reviewed?

I tried Dr. Bronners and it’s too harsh on the hands. I use different formulas including the unscented baby blue bottle and still too harsh even after diluting heavily.

Thank you for this info. I would love it if you’d include the parent company ownership. Seventh Generation was a brand that proved itself and became popular. Guess what? Pepsico owns it and has changed from wholesomeness to commercial low quality ingredients.

This app changed my life! I was in the supermarket one day and had a brief conversation with a lady about me having extreme difficulty finding celiac safe foods. She showed me her app and said I was going to love eating again. She was absolutely correct. I use the app daily and share it often. What a true blessing Yuka is for me and my family!

With our economy the way it is (and has been) for too long, perhaps you could recommend items that don’t cost more than many people can’t afford. We all like to make educated and healthy choices. These choices must be affordable in today’s economy.

Bar soap rarely has plastic packaging. I love using the superfatted handmade bar soaps from neighboring farms. (Commercial soap manufacturers pinch every penny so add just enough fat for the lye to turn the fat into soap.)

I really like your work, but I’m surprised that all of these are in plastic containers. This is so much plastic! How can they be ranked so high with what plastics are doing to the environment, and ultimately us? Why no bar soaps? What is to happen to all these containers?
