TOP 10 Deodorants

Your deodorant is often one of the first products put to the test during long days and busy routines.

Daily activities can quickly lead to odor and discomfort. A good deodorant does more than mask smells: it helps keep you feeling fresh while being gentle on your skin.

But ingredient quality really matters, especially for products you use every day. Some deodorants contain aluminum salts or concerning ingredients like BHT. And because deodorant is applied directly to a sensitive area like the underarms, it’s worth paying close attention to what’s in it.

To make things easier, we’ve rounded up the top 10 deodorants on Yuka. These solid stick formulas are all free from high-risk ingredients, so you can stay fresh with confidence.

My husband insists on hell antiperspirant-deodorant. The gel because he doesn’t feel that the solid gets all the way to the base, where perspiration starts, and antiperspirant because he believes that the deodorant just masks the odor and ( in his opinion) only temporarily.

Do you have any information on this type of product? Gel is getting harder to find all the time!

The top ten deodorant list is great information. I will also say that recently I used YUKA to scan “Wild” deodorants in four different fragrances. They ALL rated Excellent! Amazingly, there is no “single use plastic” OR cardboard/paper case involved. The metal case will last a very long time after being “refilled” numerous times. Lastly, the Wild refillable fragrance actually does last for 24-hours. And this is coming from a very active person. *Maybe “sustainability” should be added to your list of characteristics to rank!

Thanks, I’ve heard how soap and skincare products can have unhealthy elements in them. I once worked with some Muslim people and they wouldn’t even use Toilet paper because most have chemicals that they don’t want to come in contact with. I remember telling a nurse practitioner that the Muslim people i knew rarely ever got sick and I never see them in the supermarket.

My daughter turned me on to lime juice as a deodorant. I squeeze a few limes and put it into a roll-on bottle I got on eBay. Very cheap, totally natural, lasts for months, and I never smell. It doesn’t stop sweating, just the odor. But wait awhile if you’ve just shaved, so it doesn’t burn.

Aluminum is the “anti-perspirant” in deodorants. Non aluminum deodorants are for fighting the odor. Unfortunately, with my hyperhydrosis, aluminum deodorants are the only thing that helps me. I would like to go more natural, but genetics dealt the super sweaty card to me that only aluminum anti-perspirants/deodorants help!! 🙁

Surprised you included products (Old Spice) which include “fragrance” in ingredients . “Fragrance” or “parfum” is an umbrella term for a hidden mix of chemicals. The U.S. FDA does not require companies to disclose individual scent ingredients, which often hide toxic chemicals. These include phthalates and styrene. They are linked to hormone disruption and cancer.

I’ve experienced that diet and hydration make a difference in smells. Anything antiperspirant is harmful I assume, as a body should sweat.

Are any of these antiperspirants as well?

I have become an old spice zero fan. I go for the woodlands scent which has lavender. Tip-apply morning and bedtime for better results. I live in vegas so it’s plenty hot!

Deodorant is for smell- antiperspirant stops the sweat… so is this just for a better smell?

Thanks for the info, but like other users effectiveness against odor is important. I have been using Thai deodorant stone Crystal stick and it works great!

Appreciate you sharing your assessment of all these deodorants based on healthy ingredients. One big missing for me is, do they actually work and how effective are they? Without that, won’t spend money and switch from something that does work and I like, even if it’s not as “healthy”.

This is my question as well. Love the “clean” assessments. Thank you! BUT… which ones work the best?

Deodorant isn’t as simple as say toothpaste. Not only every brand, but each scent works differently for everyone. It’s not exactly as easy as saying going to work due to many factors. What works best for you, might not work at all for them. My suggestion would be if you want to try something new is to get a sample (check websites), a travel size, or try to pair a coupon (check websites, apps) with a sale price on a full size. It will help ease the burden if you don’t love it.

I switched from regular deodorants which made me smelly to Native. Although I still feel “damp” I do not smell so will take the damp feeling over being smelly.

I switched to “Each & Every – Nothing On” which is unscented. It’s been a great experience thus far for several years.

The # 1 deodorant probably in the whole world is PERSPIREX, which you can only buy online.
The # 1 deodorant in the USA that you can buy in stores is NATIVE.

I’ve tried practically all of these brands, and most of them leave BO. I’ve found that the “Each & Every” Brand to be the most effective. They also credit you for returning any used container for your next purchases.

Thank you for the recommendations. However, there are at least 3 brands on this list that continue to test on animals. I believe that should also be a consideration when you make your recommendations.

I have tried so many natural deodorants. I want to use them but I dont want to have BO… I have yet to find one that actually worked. I have to use the prescription expensive stuff and I still can smell a hint of the bo on certain days. If its not going to work may as well not use anything at all.

I used to use Native deodorant and while there were many things to like, it left and oily/greasy residue on my clothing that was impossible to remove after repeated washing.

I’m mostly happy to know that your company does not take money from advertisers, so they don’t have any influence on the products you rate. I hope you always maintain that format, that is the reason I chose the payed format. Thanks to you and your staff.
