Your deodorant is often one of the first products put to the test during long days and busy routines.
Daily activities can quickly lead to odor and discomfort. A good deodorant does more than mask smells: it helps keep you feeling fresh while being gentle on your skin.
But ingredient quality really matters, especially for products you use every day. Some deodorants contain aluminum salts or concerning ingredients like BHT. And because deodorant is applied directly to a sensitive area like the underarms, it’s worth paying close attention to what’s in it.
To make things easier, we’ve rounded up the top 10 deodorants on Yuka. These solid stick formulas are all free from high-risk ingredients, so you can stay fresh with confidence.

Like all our rankings, this one was conducted completely independently, and no brand has paid to be included.
What about Super Leaves? It is in cardboard and supposedly clean. I use a citrus scented one.
Please consider environmental sustainable packaging – choose plastic-free.
What about Lumi?
I’ve been using NATIVE for as long as I they have been in business. I find it hard to give up since they have a plastic-free container on some of their deodorants.
I’ve found a scent (well probably 10 years ago) that I love. Pricing is way more expensive than it used to be but plastic is forever.
Thank You so much for the up date very interesting
Thank you!
These are all so expensive. I get that its organic but the way the economy is these days who can afford to pay $17-$18 on a stick of deodorant??
Thai Crystal Deodorant spray is excellent and actually works
Hi Julie, good article. You should check out Buddha butter. It has no alcohol in it. Alcohol is very bad for us and spreading it on your skin may be hazardous to our health
Every day is hazardous alcohol is in everything but it is not in Buddha butter.
Are these gluten free?
Which ones actually work for perspiration?
I’m happy to see the ratings on these deodorants. I can’t wait for more ratings on say dog food or pet food in general as well as candles.
THANK YOU!
I have used Amway’s deodorant for years and it is very good, but they keep changing it, so I need an alternative.
I did find Schmidt’s worked fine.
This list gives me more options.
Thank you,
I use essentials deodorant it’s free of
aluminum parabens & phthalates, it
works great for me.
Which one is the best one for odor and wetness I struggle with hydrosis
What are your thoughts on the salt crystal deodorant?
Thanks for the information on the deodorant. I have been using Native for several years now and love it!
Are there any recommended products that also provide anti-perspirant ingredients? I don’t want to smell bad but I also don’t want to perspire profusely either.
Have you checked the Salt & Stone deodorants? Thank you!
Luckily for me, I don’t need to use deodorant. Haven’t used deodorant in over 30 years, when I realized I didn’t need it.
Do any of these products contain aluminum – a key culprit in found in the brains of Alzheimers Disease?
Deodorants do not contain aluminum. Antiperspirant does.
I’ve been trying to transition to a cleaner deodorant. I can’t find one that doesn’t leave dark stains in the armpits from all the oils. Any suggestions?
Lume is usually a good one for not leaving stains. As is Hume.
I have found Mitchum deodorant is the best. I’ve had to advise my nursing students to switch to it. This is in Texas.
I’m using Hume currently. No scent but in Florida I think it is not as good as others I use.
Due to allergies and asthma I use unscented antiperspirant. No deodorants.
Are these men deodorant or just for women
Lume is the best I’ve found!
I don’t need a deodorant as much as an antiperspirant…why no antiperspirants on the list?
Thank you
Personally, I prefer a potassium alum deodorant. Comes in dirrerent brand names (eg Crystal deodorant), and costs between $6-7 a stick. Been using it since the late ’90’s and it hasn’t failed me yet.
What about anti-perspirants? I’d love to know which, if any, are virtually toxic chemical-free. Thanks!
I was positive that I would see Lume on the list but surprised when I didn’t. Once I learned about the risks of aluminum based deodorants I switched to Lume. I also tried Native, Dove, and Secret Whole Body deodorants but did not like the texture of those brands.
Naturally I ran to the Yuka app to scan my Lume deodorant and its rating is Excellent 86/100 with 2 low risk ingredients. One of those low risk ingredients being fragrance 🤷♀️ Close call but I’m happy to see Lume’s rating is excellent and I don’t need to switch to another brand now 😮💨
Just purchased Native scented. I’ll definitely by the unscented one next purchase. Thank you
Thank you!
I have tried many brands and find Lume to be the best.
Yuma where did Lume fall in the range?
Thankyou for these updates.
I was surprised not to see mineral salts options among these. Is there a reason for that? They work very well for me.
This is perfect. Thank you.
Thanks!
I like ECO Roots, it’s a cream. I know it’s not the same category, the ingredients are in line with healthy living. I have the one without baking soda, because my skin is sensitive to that.
Thankyou. This is very helpful.
Thank you this is so great!
Since Tom’s is now owned by a corporation that added lead to the toothpaste scan we really trust their deodorant??
I was unaware of this!!!
Hello. I am using Mando, and it really does stop odor for 72 hrs. Here in Mesa, AZ., sometimes I don’t go anywhere for several days, do not shower … and do not offend myself. LoL
Sometimes you “don’t go anywhere for days and do not shower”. Seriously????
Humble- love it. 3 in my cabinet.
Truly appreciate your free advice on this topic!!!
Thank you for taking the time out to test these products!!!
Very much appreciated!!!
But would also like to know what testing was done to see if they actually work? I appreciate knowing about the ingredients but do the best ones work and are healthy choices!
.
Thank you for this list. I’ve tried a couple of these and still have issues with sweating and damp armpits. What is a good antiperspirant.
THANK YOU so much for sharing this…………..Love YUKA!
Real root by sprouts…
THANK YOU ‼️🌈‼️
Thank you so much. You are the best. I totally love this App. I use it everyday. Thank you for caring.
I use Arm & Hammer Essentials. No odor, one application, clean ingredients. I read a ‘study’ that said, for example, Tom’s didn’t work, needed 3 applications daily to control odor. Was odor control a parameter in this evaluation?
These are not the brands you usually see on the super market shelves. It would be nice to see others and their ratings
I’d be interested in your thoughts on Play Pits natural deodorant. https://playpits.com/
Did you look at PiperWai deodorant?
What’s good for someone with chronic hives?
I was surprised that Kinko Microbiomix™ Balancing Deodorant wasn’t on your list. I use this daily and I love it.
Thank you, Julie! I’m a big fan of the Yuka app and use it every time I consider buying any new skin or hair care products! This list is very helpful, but would also like to see effectiveness of products as well, since I have a hard time finding truly natural deodorants that work for me.
I have been satisfied with the Humble arm deodorant since 2018, when I was going through breast cancer chemotherapy. I love the smell of lavender. Thanks for your app, I love it!
Thank you, I have tried almost all of them.
Thank you for the info. Looking forward for more
I really like the hello coconut 🥥 one I would definitely recommend getting it to try because it smells so really good just like coconut 🥥.
Do have a recommendation for deodorant that doesn’t leave white splotches on black garments?? V
Try Kinko Microbiomix™ Balancing Deodorant. I love it! It comes in a roller ball application.
I love all this information. Thank you so much.
What testing was done to see if they actually work? I appreciate knowing about the ingredients but do the best ones work? In my experience, the Native one did not help with sweaty odor
Great information. There are so many choices on the stores shelves, I generally give up and buy the usual. No more worried. Love your app.
what about the Corpus brand?
Please tell me Every Man Jack is good to use
Yuka always has first class information on items that interest me. Thanks!
Thank you for preparing this list!!
It is super helpful 😀
I love Yuka and use it often.
Thanks, I know I’ve seen a great selection of these kinds of natural deodorants at Mom’s Organic. I would add Clean Age to the list. I love it and it works well for me.
Just wanted to mention that Alo has the best deoderant for men or women. Not sure how it would be ranked but excited to see it. Love the Yuka app.
why are you still ok with seed oils?
Thanks good to know. Great information
Unfortunately, most of the deodorants listed are not available in most stores.
I’m very happy you’ve included the best, and safest deodorants to purchase. I always try to read the ingredients before purchasing but it’s difficult to pick the best product.
Ever tried, rated Curie? This is one of the only I’ve found that truly works for me. Helps significantly with sweat and odor.
Humble may be #1, but it does NOT work well for odor control! Don’t waste your money!
Native (unscented) does a much better job with odor control. I’ve been using it for a while and it has not ruined any of my clothing! 10/10 recommend.
Thank you again for your research and information.
I love Yuka and greatly appreciate your independent reviews. The app helps me choose products that are better for my health and have a smaller environmental footprint.
One important practical criterion I would love to see included in future deodorant comparisons is whether the product leaves white marks or lasting stains on clothing. Alongside ingredient quality, effectiveness and environmental impact, this is a key consideration for me when choosing a deodorant. It would therefore be very helpful to know which products perform well in this respect.
Could you rate antiperspirant deodorants? Thanks!
I recently learned Native was purchased by Proctor n Gamble
Attitude is one of the best deodorants rated on EWG, is plastic free and has scents for men and women. I’ve been using it for years
I know they say hypoallergenic but my experience with using the Native product was not good. I got an irritating rash within one week and had to stop.
how come carpe wasn’t on your list?
Thanks for the timely tip. Using Native
Hi Julie. Rustic Maka is one to check out as well. Been using it for over ten years, all natural. Thank you for all your research.
I just love Yuka! I use it all the time. Keep up the good work!❤👍🙏🇺🇸
Thanks Julie! Very helpful information! I would like more of this content.
Tom’s. A great deodorant. Using it for years and I still have friends!
Thank u for recommending items to me
I love 💕 this app!!! Use it so much!!! As we buy more brands without harmful additives we can get rid of them!!! Buy all “Yuka” recommendations is the way!!!
I do not see Hey Humans on this list which I use and is by far my favorite their coconut mint scent. Non plastic packaging great ingredients. Was it is it tested in this survey?
I do not see Hey Humans on this list which I use and is by far my favorite they’re coconut mint sent. Non plastic packaging great ingredients. Was it is it tested in this survey?
I actually started with the POPPIE Refresh Spray and loved it so much that I decided to try the deodorant too—and now I’m hooked! The spray is perfect for a quick refresh throughout the day, and the deodorant keeps me feeling fresh from morning to night, even in the Florida heat. The scents are amazing, the formulas are gentle on my skin, and they truly work. I’m so glad I found POPPIE!
https://trypoppie.com/
My husband and I, now check the items we are purchasing, so we are using your recommendations. Thank you 😊
First of all…..
Thank you, Yuka for your valuable information!
Just wondering if you’ve ever checked this deodorant out …
Real Purity Roll-On Deodorant
Interested in your findings!
As a female that plays golf, does yardwork, and bikes in the 90°+ heat, I can attest that Squatch deodorant keeps the “smell” under control. I hope they come out with a more female friendly, natural scent for us. It’s a great product. And THANK YOU Yuka for all your help with your app. I use it all the time & recommend it to all my pals.
Jukebox (#7 on the list) is the “female” version of Dr. Squatch (same company)
Great to know! Thanks
Appreciate it, and surprised at a couple! Yeah, big companies improving!
Thanks Julie! Always welcome your recommendations.
Are all Dr. Squatch fragrances equal in quality? We use a different one at our house.
Which ones actually work to prevent odor?
Yes I use hello and squatch thanks for the good reviews
Thank you. I have been using Old Spice for years, and it works for me excellently.
Which deodorant is good for an 11yrs girl
use doves aluminum free spray or stick it works well, amazing scents and doesn’t leave stains or marks on clothes. i’ve tried several ones and it’s the only healthy deodorant i’ve found but i haven’t tried lume and have heard good things about it
Fomin doesn’t last 24 hours, same with Humble.
Who doesn’t apply deodorant daily?
Only 2 of them look like they are plastic free. 🙁
What about LUME?
I’ve tried a couple of these and have Lume as my # one because, put simply, It Works. Switch to their sweat control only during the hottest months because the added ingredient is not as acceptable on your app.
Love you app, by the way, it has help us remove so many harmful products from our diet and kept us healthier.
As an American, I am appalled at our food suppliers.
Thank you
Are any of these also antiperspirants?
Surprised the Herban Cowboy isn’t on the list. It’s been my go to clean deodorant for years
Is there any sprays that are good? I don’t like sticks
doves aluminum free full body deo. it works and smells so good i constantly actually get compliments on the scent.
How about for men’s?
How about for men’s?
I thought I read here that spray deodorant was better than a product that touches your skin every time it’s applied. Now I’m confused.
How about Booda Butter?
I don’t see Lume on your list – which is a big oversight! I have used many of the products you are rating – and none are as effective and pleasant as Lume!
I use Lume also and am Surprised not see it in the list.
Why don’t they sell the unscented Native at the stores? You can only find a variation, like vanilla, or coconut and something, not just the plain one
Humble deodorant will ruin all your white clothes by leaving a grey stain on the armpits. I wouldn’t recommend this one.
Thank you , for doing this now I know the ones without bad harmful stuff in them and they work
I’ve started using Wild and it’s the first natural deodorant that works for me!
Thank you. I love this app and use it all the time.
Thankyou for this very informative list..can’t wait to try one
Thank you for giving us good chooses.
I’m glad to see Humble on the list. I initially tried it because of the environmentally friendly packaging and it’s aluminum free. I prefer the patchouli & coral scent. People compliment me on my perfume, but I don’t wear perfume: it’s the Humble deodorant they smell.
Love this app! Thank you for sharing this and trying to keep us informed and healthy 💝
Hey I use Athena deodorant and it works great! I was just I was just wondering how far down the list it would be?
These seem to all be stick deodorants. What about roll-ons?
play pits is a very good
Everyone of the listed products I have never seen before. Are they available in grocery/drug stores? I live in Iowa.
Hello is sold at Dollar General.
I’ve used it for years, it works very well.
Thank you as always for all the information you bless us with. Thankfully, the one I use is one that you recommended. The hello, thank you, Yucca, app.
I’m curious if Lume was tested and how far down the list it is. I think it works pretty well, but for me the unscented works best…the scented ones give a funky smell. Native also gave a weird smell. It’s like giving yourself B.O. rather than taking it away with some of these. I love your app by the way! I check it mostly for food.
Would you do a segment on the best Korean beauty products?
Nothing complicated. Just a simple clean, tone, moisturize and maybe one more special product?
I’ve been using Corsx And checking each one with your list. I try for as close to 100 as possible. I’d like to know some other brands too.
PS I’m 78 and my skin looks quite good. No one ever thinks I’m that old. Haha
Hi Laura, I’m almost 80 and my skin looks very good. No one ever thinks I’m that old. Hahaha The lowest guess was 60-ish I admire you.
I love this app and Native deodorant! It’s the only natural one that protects me when I sweat!
Any suggestions for deodorant/ antiperspirants?
These are all called deodorants, but are any also antiperspirants?
Thank you for the work you do!
What about Lume??? Was that one of the test subjects? Thank you for all that your establishment is doing!!! We love this app. I tell everybody.
Yes, Lume is what I use after trying several on this list and found it works the best! Sad it isn’t listed here.
Lume works the best! I wk see were it stands as well
Thank you for the information. The natural deodorant that I have tried to not keep me smelling clean and fresh. Do any of these deodorant you have shared help with body odor? Which one is the best for that?
Vanman and Soft Disclosure are great deodorants also. I use both and they last for more than 1 day.
Where can I find these deodorants?
Great information! As a consumer I see so many deodorants and no nothing about so many of the brands. Very helpful information. Thanks
Thank you. This is very very helpful. I’ve been telling everyone about you. It’s an extremely informative sight and I appreciate all your efforts.
Interesting post, but why in the world would anyone use an unscented deodorant. Kind of defeats the purpose.
I currently use Dr. Squatch, bourbon barrel. Which is really nice. But honestly when going for a run or doing heavy outside activities, I still use Degree because of sweating.
Deodorant is meant to block your bad body odor, not make you smell like a teenager or old man. I got sick of all the scented sticks years ago and have been using Arm & Hammer unscented with great results. Also, deodorants with anti-perspirent, like Degree, have been directly linked to Alzheimer’s…
Hi Michael.
As a woman the scented deodorant can clash with any perfume or body lotion scent. For me, the idea of a deodorant is to cut out any odor not cover it up with a scented deodorant, but thats just me
Yes! Squatch it
Love your website
I use native coconut vanilla and I love it, It works all day for me. I also use the lavender rose as well. Never tried the others.
Some of these make me actually smell worse. The hello and Native brands in particular. Which is disappointing since they are so expensive.
Yes I used hello and I and my clothes smell terrible
Jukebox (#7 on the list) is the “female” version of Dr. Squatch (same company)
Oops, meant to reply to a different comment
Thank you, this is very helpful. I relay on your app for healthy food and cosmetic products.
This is so helpful, thank you.
This is really helpful thank you!
What do you have on toothpaste and shampoo.
Excellent! Thank you!
So glad Native is on this list.
Tks for this info.
What about Salt and Stone?
I’m living in the UK now. How about top 10 here?
Would be nice to see bad 10 deodorants, so we can avoid them
Yeah ~I’ve been using Native for a long time
Could you possibly tell us if any of these leave a stain on your clothes or that dreaded “deodorant mark” on your arm openings like on a sleeveless top?
Humble will ruin all your white clothes with massive gray stains. I found this out the hard way.
I love Wild Deodorant. It is amazing & comes in several scents. Very sensitive & easy on the skin. Tom’s caused my skin to peel under my armpits.
I have tried several of these and they do not last for me which is unfortunate.
Try the Little Seed Co. it’s unfortunate they did not make the list, their deodorant is amazing!
Correction!
*Little Seed Farm
TOM’s deodorant has been bought out by Colgate which has had a class -action lawsuit filed against it in the US because of has much lead in it.
I wonder if it was only 10 that you evaluated or if there were some that just didn’t make the list since they didn’t do as well as these. I know of a couple others that are quite good as well, but I don’t see them here.
What about Mando?
Any antiperspirant you would recommend?
Anti-perspirent has been directly linked to Alzheimer’s, so I don’t think it would be recommended.
Are any of these aluminum free? I bought Secret Aluminum free and it has a nice Cherry Blossom & Bergamot scent but I think tou can get it also unscented.
look at the bottles, it says if it is aluminum free.
And for those of us who perspire like we have just stepped from a shower, what is recommended? Many thanks.
Tried Native for a while but found that it didn’t help work very well.
Same with me. Plus it had a funny smell.
Yes my husband wears it but I don’t like the weird smell
Didn’t work very well
What about Malin & Goetz deodorant? Thanks
This is a very informative list of deodorants
for safe under arm protection. I personally luv Native products. Thanks 😻
What a wonderful list! 🌿
It’s encouraging to see so many deodorant options that focus on simpler ingredients, sensitive-skin-friendly formulas, and plant-based alternatives. For many people, finding products made with ingredients they recognize and feel comfortable using can make personal care choices much easier.
I especially like that several of these options are unscented or fragrance-free, giving people who have sensitive skin or fragrance sensitivities more choices without sacrificing effectiveness. The variety of scents in the other products also means there’s something for everyone—from subtle coconut notes to woodsy and herbal blends.
Rather than automatically choosing products because of flashy TV commercials or marketing campaigns, lists like this give us an opportunity to explore alternatives and make informed decisions based on ingredients, performance, and personal preferences. It’s always refreshing to see independent rankings that aren’t influenced by brand sponsorships.
Thank you for sharing this excellent selection. It’s a great reminder that there are plenty of quality products available today for people looking for gentler, plant-based, fragrance-free, or cruelty-free deodorant options. 😊
I want to check out a couple of these products
Wow! Good to know!!!🤙🏽
Really like the cleanliness of the ingredients in the deodorants but, honestly, many of these ingredients/products do not rate high in perspiration control. Sorry to say.
Yes, that has been my experience too 🙁
I like Native and may try Humble.
Thank you
Carol, be careful with Humble, someone just said, it doesn’t last 24 hours and leaves a grey spot on your garment at your armpit.
Thanks 😊. Lots of great options
Native is the only one questionable I heard it had done bad chemicals in it.
Native smells gross after sets on ur skin🤪
Simply Unscented Deodorant – Humble , Honey Pear Whole Body Deodorant – Fomin these are the only ones i use an im so happy i can get them at TJMax
I have been using a salt crystal for decades. Best ever and economical
I have also been using a salt rock… Crystals… For years. It is a completely clean and effective deodorant. Antiperspirants pretty much all contain aluminum.
I’ve been using Primally Pure deodorant for about a year and have been pretty happy with it. I love in Florida so it’s a challenge finding a good one. Most of the time I’m good with PP but on really hot/humid days I have to resort to the aluminum deodorants
Please cross-reference the Yuka list to Consumer Reports’ recent tests of most effective deodorants.
Several stood out as being effective over time as well as scoring highly on Skinsafe.
Combining the results would be extremely useful to your members.
Thank you for your diligence in something I gave up on many years ago when I would get knots under my arm ( the left side only ) .. because I save your app I am going to go back and see what else I have missed …
I’ve tried many on this list. They just don’t stop odor though. Any suggestions for one that really works?
I would try the deodorant from People’s Pharmacy, which I love. I use the unscented option and it works!
Most affective may not equate at all with most safe ingredients
Thank you!!!! I’ll pass on the helpful info!!
Thank you so much for sending this. I use YUKA all the time. People stop me in stores and I turn them onto the features. I tell the cashiers about it in the stores. It has revolutionized the products I use. You guys are making a huge difference in our world. I appreciate every ounce of info that you print. I could be your poster child.
Thank you all for doing a great job 👍🏾
I don’t like roll on & use spray type. Could you do the same for this type of B O juice?
I know it’s not good for the O Zone. Thanks.
I tried a few of these and they don’t give you the protection you need.
What about Lume? I’ve been using it for a couple of years now.
Pure Zero?
I am curious as to what criteria is used to rate these deoderants?
Thank you for the information.
What about Mineralized? I love it!
I use Vanicream because it’s fragrance free and Aluminum free. I’ve had a very difficult time finding other brands that are fragrance free and Aluminum free.
I have tried every one and SCHMIDTS is the best!! It really works! I have used it for years!
P.S. I LOVE YUKA and have told strangers about it! Ha!
Any antiperspirant/deodorant combos?
I am happy to see two of the deodorants listed come in paper tubes instead of plastic. I plan on trying Fomin. Thank you so much for this list.
Hi, both Hume and Native have paper tube options as well. The Hume version is in a round paper tube though for those that prefer a more oval applicator shape.
Very good very satisfying.
I am looking for an antiperspirant and not just a deodorant. Please rate those.
I fall in love with yuka spend time in store looking to get the best product
Nice work !! I feel free having clean products. I don’t understand why soap detergents are not rated in Yuka app.
Lume is not in the top 10. I need to switch.
Would like to understand why. It is more effective than the top 10.
Lume also has an excellent rating on Yuka
I use Lume, it was the first to offer a deodorant that helps me with odor and I sweat a lot! I am allergic to aluminum and nickel so I cannot wear antiperspirant.
I appreciate yuka sending this content. Recently scanned Papatui as I needed a spray, and I believe it scored better than native spray. Also, been on squatch for years. Good stuff.
SWITCH
How does Aluminum Free Arm & Hammer rate?
Thank you for all you do to help me stay as healthy as Possible. I tell everyone about you.
This is so helpful. What about sun screens?
Native also makes a deodorant in cardboard compostable packaging. Highly recommend.
What about Hello Human? It’s packaged in cardboard and it smells great
